"I'll pick you up at 6, okay?" Aditya said to Taniya as they stood outside the hospital, the morning sun casting a warm glow around them.
She nodded, her agreement silent but understood.
"Take care," she said softly.
"You too," he responded, leaving a tender kiss on her forehead. His heart yearned to kiss her lips, to claim her as his in front of the entire world. Yet, he restrained himself, not out of fear, but out of respect for her comfort, especially with many of her colleagues nearby.
This was not the old Taniya who might have misunderstood Aditya's intentions. This was the Taniya who knew Aditya intimately, who understood him like no other. Closing the gap between them, she pulled him in for a passionate kiss.
Bohatt time lete hai aap," she chided playfully after they parted, giving him another quick kiss before waving goodbye.
Aditya stood there, a stunned smile spreading across his face, his ears and neck flushed with a rosy hue. He climbed into his car, still reeling from her boldness, and drove towards his office.
Throughout the day, his usual stoic demeanor was replaced with a beaming smile, a rare sight that didn't go unnoticed by his employees. Meanwhile, Taniya was lost in a daydream, her thoughts a whirlwind of emotions and memories.
As the day drew to a close, Aditya prepared to leave his office. Just as he stepped out of the main entrance, a sudden collision sent him stumbling, his hand striking the door handle and leaving a sharp cut.
"I am so sorry," the girl exclaimed, concern etching her features.
"Aditya," "Niharika," they both spoke simultaneously. The familiarity of the embrace that followed spoke of a deep bond from the past.
Niharika hugged him and Aditya returned the hug.
"What brings you here?" Aditya inquired after they separated.
"I came to see you," Niharika replied, her presence a pleasant surprise.
"Are you heading home?" she asked.
Aditya nodded, and Niharika's eyes lit up. "Perfect. I'd love to meet your parents again."
He couldn't refuse her request, though he mentioned, "I need to pick up my wife from the hospital first. Is that okay? I can send you with the driver.
"Hospital? Is she alright?" Niharika asked
"Yes, she's a doctor," Aditya explained, a hint of pride in his voice.
Niharika's expression turned wistful. "How would I know? You didn't invite me to your wedding."
Niharika you know na..
Aditya began to explain, but Niharika stopped him. "It's okay. You don't have to."
They walked together to the parking lot, their history as college friends and the rivalry between their families a backdrop to their current reunion.
Aditya and Niharika studied in the same college and were quite good friends but their fathers were business rivals. But that didn't affect their friendship.Aditya's parents had always been kind to Niharika, and her mother was also the same unlike her father, whose jealousy was palpable.
But when Niharika had confessed her feelings for him, Aditya distanced himself, both out of lack of affection, and to avoid the wrath of her father.
Aditya had long ago given his heart to another,he gave his heart to a girl when he was a child and she was the first girl who managed to capture his heart. Taniya was making her space in his heart which he couldn't deny and the feelings towards Taniya were slowly overcoming his feelings towards the other girl without his knowledge.
