"Wake up, Nia," Aditya's voice cut through Taniya's sleep.
"Good morning," Aditya whispered while his lips brushed against her forehead.
"Good morning," she murmured, her eyelids heavy with the remnants of sleep.
The warmth of his kiss seeped into her.
"I'll cook something for breakfast. Freshen up.We are alone in the house," he informed her.
The rest of the family was still away at their Uncle's house.
"Chocolate pancakes. I want chocolate pancakes if you are ordering breakfast" Taniya said.
"No, you're unwell. You'll have home made khichdi," he replied.
"Who says I'm sick? I'm perfectly fi—"her protest was cut short by a betraying cough.
"Khichdi it is,"Aditya concluded, his verdict final, leaving Taniya to sulk.
His hand reached out to tousle her hair but Taniya caught his hand between her teeth to draw a reaction from him but he remained unfazed, "Try harder, baby," he teased, prompting her to release him.
Rising, she drifted to the washroom to ready herself for the day, unaware that she'd left behind her clothes
Aditya selected her clothes, draping them over the door handle.
"Clothes, Nia,"he called out before exiting the room to go to the kitchen.
Dressed and descending, she found Aditya, phone in hand, watching some tutorial on YouTube.
She enveloped him in a back hug, her head resting against his back, "Khichdi's too much work. Let's just order pancakes," she bargained.
"No, it's nearly ready. I wanted to ensure it's as tasty as it is healthy for you," he replied.
Taniya shot him an 'ehh' look before moving towards the fridge.
As she reached for the water bottle, he took it away. "I'll boil it first".
"Aditya, kaun peeta hai garam paani aise mausam mein?" she protested.
"Wahi jo baarish mein bheeg kar bemaar padte hain,"he retorted and went to ignite the stove.
He coaxed her into eating the khichdi, spoonful by spoonful.
After breakfast Aditya dropped Taniya at her hospital before heading to his office.
The day wore on and Taniya was busy tending to her patients but the cold was catching up to her.
Seizing a moment of rest, she retreated to her colleague's quarters and slept there during her lunch time.
Meanwhile, Aditya whp was iimmersed in his tasks, was jolted by an alarm he has set as a reminder of Taniya's medication schedule.
He called her but his calls went unanswered. He called the reception that informed him that she was resting.
Grateful to the receptionist, he resumed his work, only to be interrupted by an urgent meeting.
The file that was necessary for the meeting was missing and he thought that he might have left it at home.
He called Veer but he was still at the Uncle's house and couldn't reach in time.
Aditya was thinking about whom to call when Niharika's call pierced his concentration.
He didn't want to pick up her call but when she was calling continuously, he finally picked it up.
“Aditya, where is everyone? I am outside the door” she said
