It was another day at the hotel and he was frustrated due to the unanswered calls.
He failed Taniya for the twelfth time since the morning. His frustration mounting with each ring that went ignored.
Taniya stopped answering his texts and calls the moment the three days passed, shutting him out as if he no longer existed.
Yesterday, desperate for any form of contact, he tried to talk to her through Veer and even called the landline at home but both times, she cut the call before he could utter a word.
Given the situation he was in, this should have been the least of his worries but it wasn't.
He wanted to tell her he would be back next week. He wanted to explain everything to let her know what had happened but she wasn't willing to even listen to him.
To her, these were nothing but empty excuses.
Days blurred into each other as he remained stuck in the hotel, the walls closing in on him.
In those suffocating moments, he realised the privilege of simply having someone to talk to.
He was all alone after Vivaan left for India because Aditya was afraid that the crisis will soon be out of control.
He knew that it was only a matter of time before the news would reach his office, and once Veer got wind of it, it would be on everyone's lips at home.
He waited for a week before Taniya finally spoke to him. She said that it was just because she wanted to hear his voice and not because she forgave him.
He chuckled at her response but he explained his reasons to her. He didn't tell her everything, only that there were complications about the project and the deal had fallen apart. He also told her that someone had stolen his idea but not about the case.
He was now standing in his hotel room as he zipped up his suitcase, double-checking for the files and other things.
He received the official clearance yesterday from the police and he got his passport and ID back which meant that he could finally go back home.
But relief was a fleeting thing.
The lawsuit was still circulating in his mind and while the case worried him, what worried him more was his family. He knew that he had to tell them himself. If they heard it from someone else, the situation would be a little unpleasant.
He got to the airport and boarded his flight. Just as the plane prepared for takeoff, he sent a quick text to Taniya to let her know that he was on his way.
What he didn't know was that the news of the lawsuit had already made headlines back home.
His name was flashing across screens, and every other person was talking about him. His family tried to reach him
but his phone was off. After a long, restless flight, he finally landed.
He stepped into the arrival hall and grabbed his luggage while his mind was focused on getting home.
The airport was crowded which felt odd to him but he ignored it.
The moment he stepped through the arrival gate, a swarm of reporters closed in, their voices overlapping and their lights blinding him.
"Sir, do you have any comments on the lawsuit?"
"Is it true you stole the idea?"
"Are you planning to settle or fight in court?"
