The night was cloaked in silence, broken only by the soft sound of the insects outside. Taniya's eyes fluttered open, finding herself wrapped under the warmth of the blanket.
The room was dim, and Aditya's steady breathing was the only sound she could hear.
He lay behind her, turned the other way.
She glanced over her shoulder, her eyes tracing the silhouette of his broad back. A wave of inexplicable comfort washed over her, and she couldn't resist the urge to turn toward him.
Sliding her hand gently over his waist, she hoped to drift back to sleep, but her restless mind refused to comply.
Seconds stretched into minutes, and a soft growl from her stomach made her sigh.
She got up from the bed and went to the other side of the bed and picked up Aditya's hand from the bed, kept in on her waist and laid besides him but she still couldn't sleep.
She slipped out of bed with the lightness of a cat, careful not to disturb Aditya.
Quietly, she padded to the bedside drawer, rummaging for snacks.
Nothing.
Disappointed but undeterred, she tiptoed out of the room, the coolness of the marble floor sending a shiver through her.
The kitchen was dark, save for the faint glow of the refrigerator light.
She scanned the shelves, only to find a few bottles of water and vegetables staring back at her.
"Seriously?" she muttered under her breath before taking a sip of water to quell her hunger.
Returning to the room, she climbed back into bed, her eyes darting to Aditya's peaceful face. His long lashes rested delicately against his cheek, his features softened in sleep.
She hated waking him, but her hunger had now transformed into an undeniable ache.
With a heavy heart, she leaned closer, hesitating for a moment before gently shaking his shoulder.
Aditya stirred, his brows furrowing as he groggily opened his eyes. His voice was thick with sleep.
"Mm... what's wrong?"Taniya bit her lip, feeling a mix of guilt and determination.
"I'm hungry and there is nothing to eat" she whispered, her tone was apologetic.Aditya blinked at her, the haze of sleep slowly lifting. "Hungry?" he asked, stifling a yawn.
"What level of hungry are we talking about here?"
Taniya tried to keep a straight face but ended up whispering, "Ice cream level of hungry."
Aditya chuckled softly, shaking his head. "Ice cream? In the middle of the night? No way. Go back to sleep, Nia." He pulled her down beside him, tucking the blanket around her.
But Taniya wasn't one to give up.
Sitting up again, she pouted. "Please, Aditya?"
He groaned, burying his face in the pillow. "It's 3 a.m. Sleep."
"Pretty please?" she pleaded, tugging at his arm.
Aditya turned his head to look at her, and the sight of her wide, sleepy eyes melted his resolve. He let out a resigned sigh.
"God, you're too cute for me to say no to," he muttered. "Fine. Ice cream. But on one condition-just a small pack. I'm not dealing with you catching a cold tomorrow."
