Taniya glanced at the nurse one last time before heading towards her cabin. "Let me know if there's any problem," she said, her voice firm.
Without waiting for a response, she adjusted her coat and walked briskly down the hospital corridor.
Once inside her cabin, she began packing her bag, carefully arranging her files and personal belongings. Just as she zipped up the bag, the door creaked open, and Anita, her colleague, peeked in.
"Hey, Taniya, can I borrow your phone for a second? I need to make an urgent call," Anita asked in a pleading but urgent tone.
Taniya looked up and nodded. "Sure, here you go," she said, extending the phone.
Anita gave her a grateful smile, took the phone, and disappeared out the door. Taniya finished her packing, her movements precise yet mechanical, clearly fatigued from the day.
She slung the bag over her shoulder and was about to leave when Anita returned, handing back the phone.
"Thanks. Heading out?" Anita asked, noting the bag and Taniya's weary expression.
Taniya hummed in response, too tired to say much.
The two walked out together but parted ways at the hospital lobby.
Taniya headed towards the exit, her steps slowing as she saw the cab she had booked waiting for her. She slid into the backseat and gave the driver Aditya's office address.
As the cab pulled away, she leaned against the window, the cool glass soothing her temple.
The day's events replayed in her mind and one memory was more vivid than others.

She had just got her order when her phone rang. The screen flashed Aditya's name. Smiling instinctively, she answered, "Hey, are you busy?"
Aditya's voice was warm yet measured. "Not really. Are you still at the hospital?"
"No, I'm on my break. How are you? Had your lunch yet?" she asked quickly, almost breathlessly, eager to hear his response.
Aditya chuckled softly at her enthusiasm. "Yes, I did. I'm fine. What about you? What are you doing?"
"I'm eating right now," she replied between bites. "After this, I have a minor surgery to perform, and then I'll be done for the day."
"Great. I'll finish my work too and come to pick you up," he said, twirling a pen absentmindedly in his fingers, trying to keep the conversation going.
The two chatted about some other things for some time.By the time they hung up, both had a smile on their face.
Meanwhile, back at his office, Aditya was trying to focus. The last file for the day was spread out before him, but Ragini interrupted his train of thought by placing a pendrive on his desk.
"This has the presentation for tomorrow's client meeting," she said.
Aditya inserted the pendrive into his laptop and frowned as he scrolled through the slides.
There were a lot of mistakes in the data and the points were poorly phrased. His expression darkened as he ordered Ragini to call the responsible employee to his cabin.
He reprimanded him with a mix of disappointment and anger "You need to redo the entire presentation. This level of carelessness is unacceptable. I'll inform the client that we need to reschedule," he said sharply, dismissing the employee after ensuring he understoodthe situation.
