They stepped into the room together.Taniya disappeared into the closet to change into her night time clothes, while Aditya grabbed his clothes and headed to the washroom.
When she returned, she sat on the edge of the bed, gently making her hair into a ponytail for the night.
Aditya leaned against the headboard, the soft glow of his laptop illuminating his face as he skimmed through emails.
The silence was broken by the sound of his voice.
“Acha, listen,” he murmured.
“Hm?” she responded absentmindedly, reaching for the silk scrunchie on the nightstand.
"I have to leave for a business trip next week."
Her fingers paused mid-motion. She turned to him, her brows knitting into a frown. "What?!"
He sighed, setting his laptop aside. "It’s important–"
"I don’t want to hear it!" she huffed, tossing the scrunchie at him before crossing her arms in defiance.
A low chuckle rumbled in his chest as he caught the scrunchie, his gaze softening as he reached for her but she scooted back, her pout deepening.
"Don’t touch me," she mumbled, turning her face away. "I don’t like you."
Aditya smirked with amusement "Oh, really?"
With an effortless tug, he pulled her into his arms, her back resting against his chest. "That’s unfortunate," he murmured near her ear, his breath warm against her skin. "Because I happen to like you very much."
"But i don't" she huffed getting away from him and flopping onto her side of the bed and burying her face into the pillow. "Go practice sleeping on your own for your business trip. I don't like you"
Aditya smiled, leaning over to place his hand on her waist. His thumb traced slow, soothing circles as he whispered teasingly, "I love you too."
Taniya stayed stubborn, clutching the pillow tighter, "I won't melt" came her muffled protest from beneath the pillow.
A soft chuckle rumbled in his chest as he tugged the pillow away and pulled her into his arms.
She wriggled in defiance, but when his embrace tightened, she finally gave in, melting against him.
He reached for her hair, gently gathering the strands before weaving them into a loose braid.
Once done, he secured it with the scrunchie, pressing a feather-light kiss to the back of her head.
He shifted her closer, guiding her into his warmth. She nestled against his chest, her hands lazily draping around his neck, while his arms wrapped around her waist, his fingers resting beneath the hem of her shirt, warm against her skin.
"Fine, go," she mumbled, her voice barely above a whisper.
His lips curved into a smile at her reluctant surrender. He pressed another kiss to her temple, savoring the way she curled closer and slept in his arms.
Taniya was getting ready to leave the hospital.
She had to stop by Aditya’s office before heading home. He had promised to take her on a date after she helped packing his bags for the trip.
She had already informed him she was on her way, which sent Aditya into a frenzy.
He was rushing through his work, torn between wrapping up important tasks before his trip and keeping his promise to her.
