The early morning sun spilled through the small window of Lance and Keith's dorm room, casting a golden glow over the mess of textbooks and clothes sprawled all on the floor. Keith, an early riser by nature, was already up and about, flipping through his notes for the upcoming exam. His movements were quiet, mindful of the sleeping form in the bed across the room.
The clock struck eight, and Keith decided it was time to wake his dorm mate. He approached Lance's bed and hesitated for a moment before gently shaking his shoulder. "Lance, wake up. You've got that job interview today, remember?"
Lance groaned and rolled over, eyes blinking open slowly. "Five more minutes," he mumbled, but Keith was persistent.
"No can do. You need to get ready," Keith pushed.
Finally conceding, Lance sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. In his haste to get out of bed, he managed to tangle his feet in his sheets and stumbled forward. Keith reached out to steady him, and their hands brushed briefly, sending an unexpected jolt through Lance. He quickly withdrew, a sudden flush creeping up his neck.
"Thanks," Lance muttered, avoiding Keith's gaze as he escaped his bed sheets. The room was filled with an awkward silence, punctuated only by the sounds of Lance's clumsy attempts to get dressed without fully waking up.
Keith turned away, busying himself with his backpack, though his mind was elsewhere. He couldn't help but replay that brief touch, the warmth of Lance's hand against his. Shaking his head to clear it, Keith focused on the task at hand.
Both of them were now acutely aware of the other's presence in the small room, a tension that hadn't been there before. Lance, now somewhat dressed, fumbled with his tie, a skill he had never mastered. Keith, noticing his struggle, sighed and walked over.
"Here, let me," Keith said softly, stepping into Lance's personal space. Their fingers brushed again as Keith took the tie from Lance's hands, Lance held his breath, hyper-aware of Keith's close proximity, of the heat radiating off his body.
"There," Keith said as he finished, stepping back quickly. Lance murmured his thanks, eyes darting up to meet Keith's for just a moment before looking away.
"Well I should get going now," Lance said.
"Me too, to be honest," Keith said. "I have psych this morning."
Lance chuckled warmly. "We can head out together then."
Keith let a tiny smirk form on his face before forcing it away. "Yeah, okay." Keith stood up and the two left their dorm, locking the door behind them.
They walked down the building, and left out the front door, stopping to face each other. "Good luck with your interview," Keith said.
Lance smiled gently. "Thanks. Have fun in class."
Keith cackled and lightly shoved Keith's shoulder. "Okay, now hurry up before you're late."
"Bye."
"Bye," Keith said with a small wave before walking in the opposite direction.
As Keith walked away, his thoughts lingered on the morning's interactions. The brief touches, the shared glances, and the sudden, unfamiliar tension between them. It wasn't the first time he had noticed Lance, not by a long shot, but today felt different. There was a palpable shift in their dynamic, and Keith wasn't sure what to make of it.
The crisp morning air did little to clear his head as he made his way across the campus. He found himself replaying their conversation, analyzing every word, every gesture. Keith wondered if Lance felt it too, this strange new energy that seemed to crackle in the air around them.
He arrived at his psychology class and took a seat, but found it hard to concentrate. The professor's words faded to a background hum as Keith's mind wandered back to Lance. He was probably at his job interview by now, Keith thought. The thought of Lance, nervous and trying his best to impress, brought an involuntary smile to Keith's face.
The class eventually ended, and Keith made his way out, his phone buzzing in his pocket. It was a message from Lance.

Sub shop it is! Right on, not even a day later, and I already scored a second date 💪Keith shook his head at Lance's joke, a small grin tugging at the corners of his mouth as he pocketed his phone. As he continued his walk back to the dorm, Keith found himself looking forward to their outing more than he would admit.
It wasn't just about celebrating Lance's successful interview anymore; it was about spending time with someone who had become an integral part of his daily life, someone whose presence he valued more than he had thought possible.
Keith opened the dorm room door to a highly unexpected sight. Keith quickly slammed the door closed as fast as he possibly could. Seeing Lance stroking his dick was the last thing he wanted to see.
