Chan's POV
—
"...Hi Hyunjin !"
"...missed you so much."
"... to come to your place."
"... I would love a date—"
Wait, what— a date?? Liv was dating Hyunjin—
*crack*
Sh*t ! What the hell was a branch doing under my feet? I peeked at her again. She was shocked and looked at her surroundings, but then she continued the call. I was still lucky enough not to get caught.
This time, I had to believe Jisung's weird imagination. I had to be more aware of the 'strangeness' my friends felt about Liv. I had to see more from other people's side who were cold-headed and not subjective. But the answer for my useless effort was just Hwang Hyunjin. Hwang Hyunjin was the one and only culprit who made her change.
I clenched my fists. I knew I should thank him for taking Liv away from me but how could he pretend in front of us all? How could he secretly date her and travel with her for a year? Even just because of the phone call she was willing to run out of the fitting room and ruin the wedding dress by sitting on a garden bench like that—
"Are you getting more stupid, Chief?"
"WOAH— You startled me!" I quickly covered my mouth and looked back at her. It was like she still didn't notice me but I immediately pulled Seungmin down when he was about to see what I was seeing. "Keep quiet and don't let yourself be seen!"
"I've been silent."
"Argh— whatever. Just.sit.down!"
Seungmin finally complied and hid. I was still overheard while he gave me my phone which I apparently left in the guest room. "Your phone's been ringing."
"Oh. And my mom? Is she still here?"
"Met her before she left. She wants to go shopping."
Not surprised, since she found out that she would soon be a family with EML, she became arrogant and consumptive. She was inviting her friends to our house many times and telling them about this business partnership. Of course it was a flex to be chosen by EML from the many companies that wanted to work with them.
Our wedding was going to be private. Regarding our parents' agreement, the public shouldn't know that this business partnership was through marriage. Only my closest family and friends, even my seven friends, had to sign an agreement to keep this information.I didn't know what the true purpose was, but this was a good step to avoid chaos among business people who have bad intentions towards my family and EML. And also, about my relationship with Maddie in our uni.
"How did you know I'm here ?"
Seungmin squinted his eyes. "You're the one who asked me to be here, idiot!"
"Ah— you're right." They'd all been calling me stupid, dumb, idiot, or anything these past weeks. Maybe they just wanted to tease me because I myself didn't feel that way. I was just— of course tired of all this. Taking care of this organization and stupid marriage with lectures going on was not easy. But this boy in front of me was used to managing his time and thoughts so all his responsibilities could be handled nicely. I needed to learn from him.
