"So that's the story."
I nodded. Chan had just told me how he broke up with Maddie, watched by Seungmin from the top of a tree and was being bitten by ants. What was certain is that he had felt Seungmin's suspicions for a long time and finally Chan also realized it. Maddie's behavior that was too coincidental to be real made him doubt her sincerity.
Maybe they were just two people in symbiosis, mutually benefiting their positions. Maddie as the university's princess and Chan as the number one among all students. They dated just out of pride because everyone called their name. But was that love? I wasn't sure. Even though no relationship was perfect, love was a valid thing– it was directly proportional to our actions.
But that was okay, at least he had stopped being a jerk who has two girls at once. At least he stopped hurting her further. I understood her feeling, how painful it was to be treated like that because I had been in her position. But no matter what, I was still the villainess who stole someone else's boyfriend. I'd still have that title forever.
After a long discussion with JJ, he asked me out on a date. Yeah, he haltingly asked in the parking lot after shooing Seungmin and Zach to leave first. So we went home and changed to something brighter. I appreciated him trying hard to cheer me up and said many sweet words that were the opposite of the time we were unmarried. He patted my back like a mom comforting her crying baby, also a soft kiss on my forehead as the cherry on top. He was really amazing today, even his clothes were currently stained with my tears, but he didn't care. He didn't even want to change and proudly said 'So everyone knows I just hugged a girl'.
"Where are we going?"
"Cinema. Already bought for VIPs."
I widened my eyes. VIP tickets? He was crazy. "When did you buy it ?"
"Uhm— last week I guess."
I was stunned, so he had prepared everything without knowing what happened today. And it felt so strange to be walking with him in the middle of town, hands linked and his broad back leading me to walk through the crowd. Like I imagined– I didn't expect to finally have it now. At this time he was showing I was his real partner, which technically I claimed what was truly mine. Such a weird thing to do, but he offered these feelings after I no longer wanted it. He showed to the crowd I was his when we could accidentally meet anyone from Uni.
"How about a horror movie?"
I squinted at this cunning boy. "Is it asking or confirming?"
"The second one." He giggled, raising his eyebrows to tease me. Such a pervert. And when we got the private room, well, this was literally for one couple only. Our seat was a sofa bed, equipped with a wide blanket, as well as food and drinks available in the refrigerator, also a microwave and dispenser beside. We could rent it for 8 hours.
"Wanna eat something?" He opened the refrigerator as I dropped myself on the sofa bed.
"No, still full of pizza."
"We ate before the two hour long meeting. Then we stayed at home for almost four hours. And you only eat two slices. C'mon, Liv."
"No need to mention that detail." My protest made him laugh with satisfaction. I wasn't used to getting this kind of undivided attention. My heart raced as he heated the food and made a cup of warm tea. His board back looked so lovely. Sometimes I forgot he was indeed my husband.
