Liverra's POV
—
"Why are you guys acting like you want to run away?"
I covered my face with my right hand because of embarrassment, while my left hand was still held tightly by Chan with a strong-determined expression. It's contradictory because he insisted on making me honest, and now we're facing JJ to ask for permission as if she was our parent.
"We want to work together. Liv has agreed." He said loudly. Well— I never said that. I told you he forced me.
Believe me, after he had the heart to squeeze my breasts and scold me at the dining table, we immediately came here with the reason that this problem would be resolved quickly. Although to be honest, I was a little touched because he wanted to fight for me, but I was also annoyed because he peeked at my WhatsApp without permission.
However, for this context, I was also stupid for hiding something important like this. I knew this wasn't a romance drama series where I, as a victim who struggled alone, would be rescued by a prince on horseback at a very critical moment. No, I was going to die. That's the reality. And after I was gone, what would happen? Would Chan be happy if I disappeared from his life as he once hoped, or would he be sad instead?
JJ has told me many times that it would be best to tell Chan about this, not only as my husband, but as someone who was influential and perhaps knew a lot about the character of the people around us. JJ already knew about the terror I was getting, and she also suggested that I pretend to be intimate with him so that the culprit would show themselves.
As if by coincidence, when I was starting to get overwhelmed and thought about agreeing to JJ's suggestion, apparently he proposed this first. Apparently, he was also thinking the same thing.
"Okay, if you both agree. I think this is so much better because what you both want is interconnected and will make further planning easier. It's just—" JJ stopped for a moment, looked at Chan and linked her index fingers together, then broke them off. "Have you been like this, with that person?"
"Yes, we broke up."
"Wait—" I glared at him, of course I understood who the person in question was. "Since when?"
He cleared his throat, looking another way with his one hand scratching his nape. "The night you were sick. I met her and ended it all."My cheeks heated up, that was when he confessed to me. He was really crazy—breaking off his relationship with that poor girl when he was sure of his feelings. Again, it felt like I was stealing someone else's lover even though technically, he was my husband. It's just that I had to be prepared for what Maddie would do knowing her ridiculous behavior. If it's just a bluff or an sly innuendo, I could still ignore it.
JJ chuckled after seeing our embarrassed reactions, then invited us to sit down. Then she opened the door beside her. "Before we start, I want to introduce my team to you."
A person I knew, but who knew Chan very well, entered the room. Chan didn't seem surprised, but I could tell he looked pretty confused because I was too. "You're here? I think we agreed to meet tomorrow—"
"I was on a different mission." That person, Kim Seungmin, smiled proudly. I saw JJ's office lanyard and ID card around his neck, it looked like he worked here. "But now we're going to do something bigger—"
"SORRY I'M LATE!"
This time, Chan and I were really surprised. Because the person who just came in was someone we didn't expect. With a different color lanyard than Seungmin, and as the same as what Enzo wore, it was a special lanyard for permanent workers.
