Chan's POV
—
Today my parents, Liv's, and also Rui came here for the first time after we moved. The house Liv bought here was finally beautiful, especially the guest rooms and the garden. We had a nice picnic and camping spot for us to spend those beautiful days. Feeling like recreating our wedding night place, we prepared some barbecues for our little gathering.
The guests' rooms were three with a double bed and personal bathroom each. Liv requested this so she could welcome our family and friends in a proper way. She spent much for this reason– which was so kind of her. And of course I couldn't let her pay for everything. After we talked, we agreed to always help, to pay for everything together. Liv didn't want me to do it all as well just because 'I'm a husband'. At first, I thought it should be that way, but it depended on us. It depended on how we arranged those marriage-stuff that were comfortable and good for us.
And like parents as usual, they brought a pick up car with many things like pregnancy stuff, baby stuff, and food supplies. Kind of funny because it felt like we lived in a jungle without any shop. But that's what parents do. Parents would always be parents.
The women teamed up in the kitchen, making some food for our lunch. The men teamed up in the garden, arranging some tables and chairs. I of course making the best one for my wife so she could comfortably sat–
"How's my daughter?"
I paused when Eric came closer to me while bringing some chairs. I smiled, a bit awkward because we never spoke much. Even after the day on the ship Xenon and Maddie fell down, he just gave me updates through my parents and also told me to keep it out of Liv. He was indeed mysterious yet having many ways to end every problem.
I wished I could hear more about him, about what kind of childhood my wife grew up with. How she was lonely, how she wished for a family to be at home, saying hi whenever she arrived home. He had reasons, I knew it. But— hearing from him directly might be better.
"Chan ?"
"Ah— sorry." I didn't realize I was ignoring him for too long. "Uhm— Liv's alright. She's enjoying her cooking course and also healthy."
"Good to hear that. She didn't do something bad to punish herself, right ?"
Eric looked curious. Oh, so he was still scared his daughter might still be trying to run away. I shook my head, and his sigh of relief was too loud. "I know she has changed, thanks to you. Doesn't mean I don't believe my own daughter. I'm just worried, she's pregnant."
"I understand. You love her, right?"
"Of course, why wouldn't I?" He laughed, arranging the chairs he brought around the table. "Partly— no, it's all my fault. More money, more problems. I was only thinking of how to protect my family from my enemies without protecting Liv's feelings. My enemies were stealing my connection to my daughter. Liv was so lonely. I'm so sorry and thank you for being with her for a long time, Chan."
My eyes caught a glimpse of a beautiful pair of eyes peeking at us through the window, overhearing us in such a cute way. I giggled when my love looked away, pretending to shape the messy dumpling— so messy to tell where her focus was.
"What's wrong?" Eric looked at Liv as I laughed.
"Nothing. Someone's just curious."
"Oh—" He smiled. "Is this a good sign ?"
"Definitely. She's waiting for you."
People said that a bad person was just a nice person who felt pain. Back then, after many times she did bad things, I realized that someone needed to show her what love is. I refused, of course, it was a big responsibility. But fate was bringing me this way. I ended up not feeling pressured at all and was happy to help her change into a new person. She fought her fight, she suffered, and she deserved all the love.
"Eric, I know it will be super awkward and cringe at first, but nothing's too late. Even though she's married, she will always be your girl and you can still show her what kind of love you have. And, no need to thank me. I'm happy to love her."
He smiled, then nodded. I tapped his shoulder to show my support. I couldn't wait for more awkward-but-cute-moments between dad and daughter for some days.
"Okay, Chan, thank you—-"
"BROOOOO HOW COULD YOU LEAVE US LIKE THIS?"
I flinched when someone came out from the bushes behind me with a damn loud voice. I thought it was a wild quokka that ran out from the jungle, and turned out to be someone and his bunch of zoo friends that I was too bored to meet. I rolled my eyes when he shook my shoulders many times.
"I can't wait to be an uncle!"
"A bad uncle." Jeongin hissed, taking Jisung away from me.
And now I realized they were all here, seven of them. Then Eric whispered 'they insisted on joining'. I bet he paid for everything.
"Your stuff?" I asked, they didn't bring any bags here.
"At the guest room." Minho smiled in satisfaction while showing the room key. It was just finished two weeks ago and I couldn't accept they used it the first time. That beautiful room would be a mess in no time.
Wait, but–
"Y'all gonna sleep there??"
"Nope, some will sleep in the tent." Hyunjin pointed at the big tent my dad was working on.
I jaw dropped, they planned to have a fun day here while I thought it was for me and Liv. I kicked all of their butts then walked inside the house, leaving the boys laughing. She was already standing near the door welcoming me. I smiled, she smiled, and I kissed those beautiful lips.
"Was dad talking about me ?" She asked, her eyes were full of hope. "And the boys? I don't know they'll be here."
"I don't know either. Should I shoo them away?"
"No. That's fine. Having them here will be fun."
I smiled and nodded, then placed my arm around her shoulder taking her outside. The sun was shining bright and the happiness laughs bloomed around us. Life was so much better with my lovely people here.
