Short Chapter - Hwang Hyunjin's POV

The night after we find a good location for new student's trip

"You think we're dating?"

"Y-yeah."

Since earlier, our Chief had been restless. As if he had prepared something, he gathered the seven of us at the front balcony at night after we booked the villas, and after Liv fell asleep.

Chan was indeed a person who really prioritized our friendship. And in his opinion, by telling us about his problems and sharing his happiness with all of us was a way to get closer. I was also grateful to be able to join this circle which has a good influence on my life.

However, if our Chief was angry, he wouldn't hesitate to express his disappointment. For example, like now, his eyes kept on me. I almost cried, thinking he was going to mention my mistake or worse, he kicked me out of SA. But then he nervously asked about my relationship with his wife.

"C'mon, you know none of us saw her as someone to be admired, frankly." I spoke as honestly as possible. But then he squinted his eyes at me. Oh sh*t! "W-was, I was. But she's a good person now. And of course you know I don't look suspicious. Like not someone in love."

He nodded, then ruffled his hair. He hadn't told us what made him think I was dating Liv—

"I did say you need to be sure about that right?" All eyes were on Seungmin who looked irritated at Chan. "You all needed to know what happened."

Seungmin nudged Chan's arm, making him nod weakly like a little boy apologizing for breaking his neighbor's window glass. Chan then took a deep breath before telling us the stupidest thing he had ever done in his life. "Okay, so, during the dress fitting, I overheard her calling someone. She said the name was Hyunjin, and she said words like date, miss you, yep— something like that. I confirmed this with her, and she said it was Shin Hyunjin, a property agent."

"And you don't believe her?" Seungmin asked him.

"I- I just want to make sure once again. I'm really sorry, bro."

I nodded. At least the misunderstanding had been cleared. It was just to make him even more sure, I had a pretty strong profile proof about Shin Hyunjin. I quickly googled her name. "Here, she's a well-known property agent. And of course, your in-laws trust as well."

Chan nodded, I'm sure this boy was relieved by the facts. But seeing from his behavior so far, not only me, but all of us were surprised how he could care so much about the girl he hated. Some of us shared the same opinion that there were various feelings coming out of him because of the incidents that happened to her one after another.

First, Liv who mysteriously disappeared.

Second, Liv returned with a different personality

Third, I couldn't deny, Liv was getting prettier.

Fourth, Liv was no longer chasing Chan.

I didn't know about her, but Chan probably felt 'hit' by her change and wished that she could do it earlier. If she had changed before they separated, he would probably have loved her. Now he was devastated seeing her changed when she was no longer his lover. And again, before she came back here, we could see he was only dating the Queen Bee for his own pride. He didn't love Maddie. Never. We realized that.

Yes, love stories didn't always happen to nice people. Love stories would come to people who were selfish even in a very toxic situation. But that's life. We're all selfish. We had our own toxic side. No one's perfect.

"Chan, you can be honest to your feelings."

He sighed. "But— uh, shouldn't we have to choose a good person? Is it wrong if I choose her? Like people mostly know Liv's character."

"But nobody is 100% kind. We choose a partner to live together, in the same frequent, in the same way mission and vision. We're not marrying a God. So if you feel a connection to her, why not ?" This time, Jeongin said something really wise after not talking much. He probably really wanted our Chief to stop being unstable and didn't hurt one of them too long.

Support continues to flow from each of us, and I could see Chan's smile getting bigger and bigger. But I knew he was scared of one thing he couldn't control. It was–

"But I don't think Liv will accept me. She's too hard to get. I mean— she's not into me."

I tapped his shoulder. "Now it's your turn to chase her, then. We'll support you. If you need help, even if it's gonna be dumb, everything's okay as long as it doesn't hurt anyone–

because you need art to love someone."
