SCHOOL

I was trying my best to ignore Tyree. It was senior graduation orientation, and he was causing trouble as usual.

"Nova...Ay, Nova! Bitch, I know you hear me."

I attended Forest Jackson High School. He's been harassing me since my sophomore year. He had the typical hood guy energy with a ridiculous sense of entitlement and a chip on his shoulder.

"Leave her alone! Fuckin' weirdo."

My smile was instant when my best friend, Chanel sat next to me. She's insanely gorgeous and kind which is rare sometimes. We became friends last year, that simmered Tyree's bullying down a few notches.

The reason for this decline is because my best friend messes with the Alpha of our pack, Knox. Tyree went from picking on me to throwing his raunchy pick-up lines at me.

When you gone let me hit, Nova?

Excuse me?

Come on, Nova...you know I've been feelin' you for a while now.

Are you high or something?

Yo, why the fuck you so mean?

This boy has bullied me practically everyday since 10th grade but I'm the mean one.

Ugh, I wish he found his mate.

It was so gross and I did everything I could to keep my distance. I wish he wasn't attracted to me. I thought being a half-blood, (human/werewolf), male werewolves would stay clear of me.

"Hey, best...I'm going to Knox place after school."

"Oh okay, have fun."

"No, I want you to come with me."

I shook my head. "Unh uh."

"Seriously, Nova? You never wanna hang with me anymore."

"I do want to hang but I've been studying and trying to get ready for the witch coven."

She laughed. "You're really taking this emo stuff too far."

"Girl please... Just because I like to wear black doesn't mean I'm emo."

Chanel touched my jet black hair. "Yeah, okay.."

Orientation started and I wondered if I did well enough on the exam to get accepted for the 1st semester at the coven.

I've always wanted to follow in my mother's footsteps. She was so amazing and showed me alot when I was younger. Unfortunately, she was accused of using witchcraft to kill a police officer and fled from our community before she could be arrested.

My dad was heartbroken but rather she left than be put to death. I was thirteen at the time, and I still think about her every day.

After school, I declined going to the Alpha's place with Chanel. I got on the bus and saw Tyree staring at me while leaning on his red Acura.

The way he stared at me shook me to my core. He had anger in his eyes, and I turned away, wishing I could hide. At least I only had to deal with him at school.

I could tell my dad, but it would only make things worse. No one likes snitches at Forest Jackson.

The closer I got home, the fear of Tyree faded away. I was hoping a letter from the coven was in my mailbox.

I got home and went to check.

"It's here!"

I opened the letter before I even unlocked the front door. My eyes widened, and I yelled in pure joy.
