This has been the worst two months of my life. Nova wants nothing to do with me and avoids me at every turn.
I have not talked to or seen her at all, and it's killing me. She blocked me from everything, even her thoughts. I fucking miss her so much that I get aches throughout my body.
My parents already told me that I'm an idiot. After dinner, my mom was trying to make sense of my actions.
"Son, how could you not tell her about the ball? You said she didn't come because she had to study."
My father...not so much.
"Boy, what the hell is wrong with you?"
"Pop, I hate going to the ball and I'm never in a good mood being there. I wasn't bringing Nova to that depressing shit."
"So you take your ex-girlfriend instead. How does that make sense?"
"Son, would you be okay if Nova behaved the way you did?"
"Mom, of course not."
Although they know for sure that I do not want Belle, I failed to show Nova. Now she thinks I never loved her at all.
"I'm going to make things right with Nova."
"Are you sure about that? She almost cooked your ass alive."
Pop wasn't letting up.
"Yes, I'm sure."
My main goal was to get Nova to trust me and I blew all that away, trying to hide my grief and not look weak in front of her.
I went to class as usual with her on my mind. My best friends were trying their best to lift my spirits. We sat at the burger place eating a late dinner.
"Just give her some time. She'll come around." Akim ate some fries.
"When's the last time you talked to her?"
"The dinner at my house."
"Damn! Wasn't that like a year ago." Darnell let out and Akim laughed.
"It's been two months, asshole."
"Still too long to be away from your mate."
Akim chimed in. "Yeah, I would crash out if Lily stopped talking to me."
"Is this y'alls weird ass way of trying to make me feel better?"
"Come on, Knox, we just fuckin' with you. Trying to lighten up the mood."
"Yeah, you and Nova are going to be fine. She just needs some time to miss you."
I hope Akim is right.
After eating, I went straight home. I have a test tomorrow and I'm going to need all the sleep I can get.
When I pulled up, I called Nova. It went to voicemail which meant I was no longer blocked.....progress.
"I love you, baby."
I hung up after leaving my message then got out of the car. Someone pulled up next to me and I waited for them to exit.
"What are you doing here?"
I asked, seeing Belle get out of the car. She looked like she was dressed to go to the club.
"Checking on you."
"Thanks, I need to get some rest. I have a big test tomorrow."
Belle walked closer to me. "Need to release some tension?"
Nova's reaction to first meeting her was warranted. I was dumb for thinking Belle's intentions for coming back were pure. Like I said, we broke up way before she met her mate so I had no doubts that it was for the better.
