Today's last class should be fun. Our professor is letting us get some hands-on spell work. Nova and I were just leaving the lunch room on our way there.

"What's up, ladies?"

"Hey, Monty."

Surprisingly, there were a nice number of males at the school, and they seemed genuinely interested in the teachings.

Akimitsu was getting out of class late today, so I told him not to worry about picking me up. Nova was more than happy to let me ride with her.

"Was the ancient scroll reading test hard?" She asked.

"At first, but when studying, I likened the text to an English word that I'm familiar with."

"Really?" Nova eyes were on me.

"Yup. For instance, in the Bible, Daniel 5, chapter 26, one of the words written on the wall, MENE, meant that God hath numbered thy kingdom and finished it."

"Right."

"Well, to me, Mene reminds me of Mini, which is small."

"Oh yeah, which relates to numbered in this context meaning short time."

"Yes!"

Nova laughed in excitement.

"Lily, I love how your mind works!"

"Thanks, Sis."

My phone buzzed. I smiled and answered.

"Hi Honey."

"Hey Petals, how is class going?"

"Great. We're headed to the last one of the day."

"Tell Nova I said hello."

"Akim says hi."

"Hey, big bro."

We talked some more until I got to the classroom door. For some reason, there weren't a lot of students.

"Mmm..that's weird."

"What happened?"

"Only three students besides Nova and I showed up this time. This class was packed the first day."

"Probably couldn't keep up."

"Yeah, I guess. Okay, honey, I'm going in, so I'll talk to you afterward."

"Okay, babe. Love you.."

"Love you, too."

Once I hung up, a chill went down my spine. The feeling caused me to look behind me, then I took a deep breath and went into class.

The five of us sat on a stool at a tall desk. We had our spell books open to the page on the whiteboard. I looked at Nova excited.

"Okay, class. Today, I have two spells for you to complete. One for regeneration and the other for regression."

Professor Clawson was strict but fair. You have to be when it comes to teaching such crucial and dangerous lessons.

"The first spell is regression."

She placed a rose in full bloom in front of each of us. They all still had thorns and were planted in a small flower pot of black soil.

"This finding then casting the spell should take no more than 30 seconds. If you practiced and studied...10 seconds."

I knew the exact spell.

Dulan, fivie, dulan, gisi.

My rose began to slowly wither before my eyes. It was sad but satisfying to see the spell I cast take effect.
