Noah looked pissed and I wasn't trying to make things worse. I wanted to believe Chanel wasn't pregnant by him, but she's my best friend, and I couldn't fathom her lying to me.

Inside, I prayed that she would leave my house before Noah and I got there. Watching drama between my best friend and mate was the last thing on my to-do list.

Technically, Chanel would have every right to be pissed at me. Noah and her being together prior to me made my heart twinge. Now, the memory of the day I met my mate was filled with the sounds of them screwing.

"Nova, you look terrified."

Noah's deep voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I was nothing like Chanel and wondered if he would've even looked my way if we weren't mates.

"I've never had sex before..."

"That's what you're worried about?"

"I'm worried about a lot of things. Especially realizing how different I am from Chanel. I know I'm not your type."

"Being different from Chanel doesn't mean you're not beautiful or not my type, Nova."

I rolled my eyes.

"That's your werewolf talking."

"Not true, and I could say the same about you."

"What?"

He smirked. "You heard me."

I loved how he talked to me. I'm such a simp while I listened to him continue.

"Nova, I doubt that you would look my way if the circumstances were different."

"That's not true. You don't really believe that."

"Nah, for real. You being part human could lessen your attraction to me even more."

"No, let's really be for real... you're hot, Noah."

"I'm alright."

Now I had the 'yeah right' look on my face.

"Listen, you're fine as fuck. And getting to know you has made you finer than any other woman I've dealt with or will see."

He was serious as he continued driving.

"I'm glad you agree, Nova."

Now I'm embarrassed at him sensing the wetness between my legs. My face was flushed at his words and I hate it...a little.

When we pulled up, I was surprised to see my father standing outside with Chanel. Then I remembered Mrs. Bowman called him about me having a panic attack.

I took a deep breath, hoping Noah and my father's first-time meeting would go smoothly. Once we got out of the car, I could already see the disapproval on my dad's face.

"Why didn't you tell me you were going anywhere after school?"

"Mr. Marshall, it was my fault. Someone was bullying her, and I just wanted to get her away from the situation. My apologies for not having her call you."

"Thank you, Alpha, but my daughter knows right from wrong and should've remembered on her own."

I took a hard swallow, not ever seeing my father this upset.

"I'm sorry, Dad...it was a lot going on. It won't happen again."

"I know it won't because Chanel volunteered to take you back and forth for the remainder of the school year."

I looked at my friend with a soft smile.

She shrugged. "We only gotta week left."

"Thanks, bestie."
