Seeing my mother was a shock to my system. It took everything in me to compose myself and keep from running to her.
"You're threatening my daughter, bitch?"
The gun Ms. Diane was holding, began to heat up and burned her hand. A sizzling sound was heard and smoke raised from her palm.
"AH!"
She dropped the gun like a hot potato and everyone backed away from her.
"I suggest you all go home or things will get worse than that!"
My mom yelled at the crowd of disgruntled people. The anger in her eyes and voice showed that she was not playing.
"WHO ARE..."
A man was about to protest until my mother lifted her hand and he flew back hitting the trunk of a tree with force.
He hit the ground groaning in pain and the crowd began to disperse. Ms. Diane was still angry and mother didn't back down.
She swung her fist and Chanel's mother hit the ground. My mother stood over her.
"What's up?! I don't need no spell to whoop ya ass. Get up!"
I intervened. "Mommy, it's cool. She had enough."
Someone helped Ms. Diane to her feet while she touched her bleeding mouth.
"You ain't never change. Still ratchet and ghetto as ever!"
"That's right, Ho, and we can meet up anytime you want."
"Whatever!"
"You better stay away from my daughter, dirty dickeater Diane! You hear me, bitch?! You gone join your daughter fucking with mine!"
My mother hasn't changed one bit and I love her for it.
Once Diane walked away, my mom pulled me in for a hug. I instantly began to cry, feeling her warmth and remembering her scent.
"I'm sorry for that arrival, baby."
"It's okay, mommy...it's okay."
I held onto her tight as if she would disappear. I've been wanting to do this for years and it felt damn good to finally have my mother back.
"Let me look at you. My beautiful baby. How are you?"
I sniffled. "I'm good. Much better now."
She held my hands then noticed the ring on my finger. Her eyes widened and a smile was on her face.
"My baby is engaged?"
"Yes, ma'am."
"Oh, that's wonderful!"
I laughed as she jumped up and down then hugged me again. This was the energy my mother always gave when she was around.
"We have so much to talk about. Where is your fiance?"
"I'm right here."
Noah walked up looking handsome as ever. He seemed a little nervous seeing my mother.
"Well, hello, young man. It's good to see..."
Before my mother could finish her words, Noah hugged her. My mother and I were surprised but quickly understood.
"Thank you...Thank you so much."
He said to her and my mother's eyes filled with tears as a soft smile was on her face.
"No...thank you for saving my life and taking care of my daughter."
They pulled away, and we all wiped our tears in chuckles. It was so good seeing my mother and Noah reunited.
