Chanel was really determined to make my life hard and ruin my relationship with Noah. Her obsession with him was increasing, and it oozed with desperation.

"I know I'm the last person you want to see. But I believe I have some information that you'd want to hear."

The other two girls stood on each side of her and smiled.

"Is this about Noah?"

"Yes and your mother."

My heart raced at the mention of my mom. Why would Chanel know anything about her, and how is Noah connected?

"I'm listening..."

This was unexpected but I was interested to hear this information. I had no intentions of going against my mate regardless of what Chanel was about to say.

"Your mother was banned for taking the fall for what Noah did."

"How is that possible when they don't know each other?"

"The cop he shot and killed knew both of them. That man was a prominent official...the pillar of the community."

My eyes widened. "Noah, killed a cop?"

My dad told me my mom was accused of using witchcraft to kill a police officer, not shoot him. Maybe he thought altering what happened would be less harsh on me.

My mom fled before she could be arrested. I never told Noah about that, so there is no way for him to connect the dots.

"Yup, and let your mom take the blame."

Chanel was expecting me to be highly upset, but I wasn't.

When my mother was banned, I was like 12 or 13 years old. Noah had to be at least 16 years old...he was still a kid, too.

Suddenly, a purple flash blocked my vision, and I flinched. My eyes shut tight while an image of my mother came into my sight. It was nighttime, and an officer was talking to her.

Please, I told you I'm not that type of woman.

I know you're a witch....your kind ain't nothing but trouble. But I have a way you can stay in my town.

No thanks. I'll take my chances.

My mother went to walk away but was grabbed by the arm. She fought, but the man in uniform fought back harder.

My heart pounded at the sounds of my mother's screams. She was being attacked with his fists, and then he grabbed his baton.

He was about to strike my already bloody faced mother until someone grabbed the gun from the cop's holster.

I whispered. "Noah."

Shots were fired, and the cop hit the ground. A young Knox came to my mother's defense. She thanked him by taking the heat.

My heart told me my mother sent me that vision. She knows Noah is my mate.

I love him so much.

I know, sweetheart.

Thank you, Mom.

No problem, and I miss you.

I miss you too.

We'll see each other soon.

I really hope so.

Relief was felt hearing her voice. Whether Noah knew she was my mother or not isn’t my concern.

I continued to play my role of being upset to make Chanel believe she was an ally. My only goal was getting back to Noah.
