"Akim, come through. We got three coolers full of drinks and beer. And a room full of bitches!"

After witnessing Darnell reject his mate, I don't look at him completely the same. He was trying to get me to hang out with him tonight, but I'm not feeling it.

"I had a long day, bro. But I'll hit you up tomorrow."

I hung up before he could reply. The day he rejected Lily, was actually the first time I've seen her...she's very pretty.

Darnell has been on a fuck spree with random girls of our pack. It was obvious to me that he was feeling some type of way but trying to mask it with alcohol and threesomes.

I've decided to stay away from the pack house until things settle down. I also couldn't get Lily out of my mind.

She looked so heartbroken and helpless. I wanted to hold her in my arms until her tears stopped and tell her everything will be fine.

I've never rejected anyone or been rejected before and I hope that's something I never have to experience.

It was good having a separate home outside of the pack. I would have killed a lot of them by now if that wasn't the case.

Alpha Knox and I have been friends since the sandbox. Darnell came along during middle school. Over the years we've been through and seen a lot of crazy things. We also formed a bond as brothers.

I'm not close with my parents or my siblings.

They're human and I'm a werewolf. But we didn't find that out until I was a teenager which also meant they had to come clean about me being adopted.

It happened a few days after my thirteenth birthday. I woke up out of my sleep in a cold sweat. When I went into the bathroom I had animal-like eyes, long sharp claws and fangs.

I was so freaked out I fainted. When I woke up, I was in a special hospital handcuffed to the bed. I didn't completely shift until I was 16 years old.

Thankfully, I turned back to my human features and the doctor explained to me what was happening to my body. I told Knox aka Noah about what happened and I was excited to learn that he and Darnell were just like me.

I went back home and for a while things went back to normal. But slowly my parents and siblings began acting differently towards me and saying negative things about werewolves.

They're so barbaric. Why do they get to eat here?

I had to remind them that I'm the same species they talk so negatively about.

Me being adopted wasn't an issue for me nor being another species from them. I was cool about not being human.

Too bad I can't say the same about them.

Noah told his parents what I was going through at home and when I turned sixteen, I was out of there. I worked and stayed with my best friend until we both graduated high school.

His parents tried to give me money for my new place but I refused. They're already paying my college tuition and I really love them.

"Hey Akim, I'm about to order out. Do you want something?"

I completely forgot Larissa was here. We hooked up a few times at the pack house, but since I'm avoiding going there, I had her come here.

Noah was smart, not bringing girls where he lives.

"No, I'm about to leave."

"Oh, I can chill here until you come back."

"Hell no! I mean...nah, that's okay."
