Unexpected

HEAT

I was trying to nap before I got a call from my mate, but my hormones were raging. All I could think about was Lily. Not assignments, food, sports, music... nothing but Lily.

My lust woke me out of my sleep, and I took a cold shower to lower my temperature.

"Shit... She must be in heat."

It was after 6 pm, so I know I should have heard from her by now. I checked my phone with no missed calls, then all of sudden.

Akimitsu! We're at the Mexican place on Mickel Street. There's a bunch of men outside waiting for us. The owner...

I'm on my way.

I was already putting on my kicks and walking out the door. My first call was Noah. Of course, he was already on it.

"I'm on my way there. It's about five or six of them surrounding the restaurant. The owner locked the doors to keep them from getting inside."

I pressed my foot on the gas. "The girls must not be aware when they're in heat."

"Being that they're half human and neither have been marked by us...probably not."

"Yeah, they'd be the ones banging on our doors."

"Or vice versa."

When I pulled up, Noah was standing inside of the restaurant talking to some guy. There were no other men around.

Nova was being held, and the guy was comforting Lily. When I walked inside, she ran towards me in tears. That made me wish that the creeps were still outside.

"Are you okay, babe?" I held her tight.

"Ye-Yeah. There were a lot of them outside. Thankfully, Monty just happened to be going to the place next door and saw us inside."

I assumed that's the guy Noah was talking to. He didn't look like a weirdo, so I tried not to be suspicious and introduce myself.

"I'm Akimitsu. You must be Monty."

"Yes, I am."

I put my hand out for a shake. He hesitated, then received my gesture. Now, he was on my radar, and Noah picked up on things quickly.

"Well, thanks. Good looking out for Nova and Lily."

Monty looked in my direction with a smirk.

"Someone had to. I wouldn't have known they had mates if they didn't tell me."

Noah slowly moved Nova out the way. This guy was a fucking dickhead, but I'm not surprised. Most vampires are.

"I just acknowledge you helping them but if you want a problem I'm with it."

Monty's smirk went away. "You don't scare me."

"That's even better."

Noah was ready for action but Nova quickly grabbed his arm.

"Baby, let's go....please."

"Yeah, babe. I'm ready to go home." Lily grabbed then squeezed my hand.

The four of us walked out of the restaurant and I still want a chance to bash Monty's face in. Noah probably has a plan to do so in the future.

Nova and Lily hugged goodbye then she got in my car.

"Text me when you get home."

I gave Noah a nod. "Okay."

Once inside the car, I started the ignition but didn't drive off. I wanted to get my point across first.

"Lily, you should stay with me for a few days until you're no longer in heat."
