Slowly going down the stairs, I could smell the rogues. There were at least five of them lingering somewhere on the main floor. It was dim in different areas, giving them convenient places to hide.

Everyone else was partying in the basement with no recognition of danger being close.

I scanned the living room and then made my way to the kitchen.

CRASH!

A bottle smashed against the back of my head…all that did was piss me off.

“Go time.”

I turned, leading with my elbow to the attacker's throat. The rogue hit the floor, and I crushed his face with the heel of my foot.

Two more came out of the shadows.

“You're dead, muthafucka.” One of them growled.

My swings reacted to them coming my way. My fists smashing into both their skulls was satisfying but I wanna see blood.

“AAAAH!!!”

The first rogue's arm separates from his body, spilling blood onto the floor. The metallic smell made me smile.

“Oh shit, Knox!”

Darnell ran to help, swinging on sight. He's a jokester but he always has my back no matter the odds.

He got the other one in a headlock then snapped his neck. Once the body dropped, he ran to me concerned.

“Knox, are you injured?!”

“It's not my blood.”

Relief was on his face until two more rogues came into view.

“Damn, how many are there?!”

One of them steps forward with a machete in his hand.

“Stay out of this, Gamma. Our beef is not with you.”

Half of his face looked burned, and I wondered what region they all came from.

Usually, rogue packs are werewolves that’ve been rejected or exiled. And the reason wasn’t some sad story…they were menaces that caused terror and division in those packs.

“That’s where you got me fucked up. Knox beef is my beef.”

Darnell and I got ready for the attack….

“Aaaaah!!”

I heard Nova’s scream from upstairs and the rogue took that as an opportunity to swing his machete my way. My hand caught the blade, keeping it from cutting into my neck.

Blood dripped from my palm.

His eyes widened at me not reacting to the blade slicing into my flesh. I ripped his throat out with my other hand while Darnell took out the other rogue.

With my hand still bleeding, I ran up the stairs to Nova.

“Bro, what happened?!”

Jake came up from the basement with questions then followed me up the stairs.

I kicked open the lock door and saw Nova standing on the dark balcony. There was a purple surge of light circling her hands and wrists.

She didn’t look my way but knew it was me while holding her palms forward.

“Noah! I don’t know what to do.”

There was another rogue surrounded by the same purple surge. He looked like he'd been through hell and was standing stiff with fear in his eyes.

“Hel-Help…” His voice trembled as he reached.

ZAAAP!

“AAH!”

“I told you to stay still, dummy.”

A smile formed on my face, and I kissed Nova’s neck. That wasn’t the time to do that, but I couldn’t help it. I was really proud of her.

I went to touch the current surrounding him, and nothing happened. His shoulder dislocated when I yanked him from his electric prison.

“AHH!”

I slammed him to the deck, then Jake kicked the side of the rogue’s temple, knocking him out. I got up while he dragged the body out of the room.

“Noah, you’re bleeding!”

Nova was freaking out trying to find wounds on me. Thankfully, my hand was already healing. I took off my shirt, wiping the blood from my palm.

I held her face in my hands. She had tears running down my face.

“Baby, it’s not my blood. I’m fine…see?”

She hugged me tight like I was going to disappear. Seeing Nova cry made my heart twinge, and the reason for her crying made me realize that I love her.

She pulled away, then wiped her tears.

“You didn’t get shocked.”

I smiled. “Yeah..My baby is a real witch.”

She giggled, which is my favorite sound next to her moans. I kissed her lips then looked into her eyes.

“I love you, Nova.”

Surprise was on her face, followed by her blushing.

“I love you, too.”

***

I was thoroughly enjoying Akim’s lips on me.

“Mmhmm…”

I loved how amazing his muscular body looked and how he felt against mine until the glow of red eyes interrupted our natural connection.

“Petals, go back to the house.”

He stood up and I hurried away but not too far. I wasn’t leaving him out here by himself.

GRRRRRRRR…..

Akimitsu’s growl vibrated through my body. I instantly got chills.

The figures were still in the water while Akimitsu waited for them to make a move. Seeing two against one made my fear kick in overdrive, so I went to get him back up.

Before I could turn away, both figures walked out of the water. They were both rogues, and my skin crawled at the sight of them. There was no end to their obsession to break werewolf packs apart and cause destruction.

I hid behind a palm tree while I looked back at the beach house. The deck looked empty.

“Where’s your little girlfriend?”

The rogue sniffed the air with his eyes closed.

“She smells good.”

“All by yourself, Mr. Adachi?” The other one smiled.

Akim raised each thigh with a slap, then got into a fighting stance. He looked so calm as the rogues stared at him like prey.

“Oh shit, Akim wants smoke.”

“Less talking…do something.”

They both ran towards him, and I panicked.

“NO!” I screamed.

When they swung at Akim, their hits were blocked by my shield. They held their fists in pain from the impact.

“What the fuck?!”

“It’s her!”

One of the rogues put his focus on me but Akim did a high jump, kicking the side of his head. It separated from his body and I thought I was going to puke.

“Myron!” The other rogue shouted.

CRACK!

Akimitsu snapped his neck, and the rogue’s body dropped to the sand, lifeless. I was absolutely speechless…My boyfriend is a freaking savage.
