Yay new point of view!
Luke's P.O.V
I sniffed the air trying to pinpoint Alyx's scent. Damon and James had taken off to go find Dani leaving Matthew and me to go find Alyx in this maze of a building.
"Luke, she's this way," Matthew called.
Please be alive. Please be alive.
Matthew suddenly paused outside a doorway. He blocked me from seeing inside the room, but my mate's scent was strong here.
"What are you waiting for?" I questioned.
"Are you prepared for the worst?" Matthew asked.
"Alyx isn't dead."
"But the bond-."
"Screw the bond. Either go inside or move out of my way."
He stepped to the side and let me go in first. The room was large. Dust covered broken down machinery. In the center of the room was a table with a girl perched on top. She was mindlessly rolling one of her eyebrow piercings between her thumb and forefinger.
"If you're looking for Alyx, she isn't here," the girl said. "She's still alive if you're wondering. I just have her hidden." She crossed one leg over the other and rested her laced fingers on her knee. "You didn't really think I would let you waltz in and take my new toy. However if you really want her back, I guess I wouldn't mind as long as you're willing to give something in return. Which one of you is Luke?"
I stepped forward. She hopped off the table and walked towards me. She circled around me, running her fingers through my fur.
"So soft," she murmured. She continued petting me as if I was a dog. "You would make an excellent rug."
I growled and she flicked me on the nose.
"Bad dog."
I stood there dumbfounded. Who the hell was this chick?
"I'm Jocelyn in case you were wondering." She walked back over to the table and hopped back on. She began swinging her feet back and forth and stared up at the ceiling.
"This chick is crazy," Matthew said.
"Yeah, but she knows where Alyx is," I replied. "Let's play her game a little longer."
"Let's play a game," Jocelyn suddenly suggested. "Just you and me, Luke. Your friend is welcome to watch, but he can't interfere. If you win, you get your mate back. If I win, then I get to keep my toy, and you'll decorate my room as a rug."
"Don't do it, Luke," Matthew urged. "We can beat her without playing her games. Damon and James can help."
Jocelyn sighed dramatically. "I don't have all day you know. If you don't want to play, I can always kill you now."
She pulled out a revolver and aimed it at Matthew. "Or maybe I'll kill your friend first." She pulled the trigger, but there was a clink signaling an empty chamber.
"That was your warning. I can't promise you'll be lucky again. If you want to play, then shift back into human form. The game has to be fair after all." She tossed something at me, and it landed with a dull thud. It was clothing. "Your move."
I shifted back into human form and put on the clothes. Matthew growled in disapproval.
"Go find Damon. I've got it handled."
He looked at me with anxious eyes before leaving.
"Now that he's gone, I'll explain the rules." She placed her gun on the small table beside her."It's like Russian Roulette, but I put a spin on it. The gun only has one bullet, and whoever gets to it first can take a shot. Understand?"
I nodded.
She clapped her hands together. "Excellent. We'll start with our hands behind our back."
I walked up to the other side of the table and put my arms behind my back.
"Ready. Set. Go!"
Our hands shot towards the gun, but I was a second faster. I gripped the handle, aimed and fired.
Clink.
What the hell?
Suddenly the table was flipped up hitting me square in the face and caused me to lose my grip on the gun. I shoved it aside to see the barrel aimed at my chest. I lunged, not waiting for her to pull the trigger.
Clink.
I slammed her into the wall, the impact instantly loosening her grip. I snatched the weapon and turned in on her.
Clink.
Fuck.
I hesitated too long and didn't see the fist before it was too late. The gun flew from my hand and slid across the floor. I stumbled back and barely blocked a kick aimed for my side. She tried again, and this time I caught it, and tackled her to the ground. We wrestled till I managed to pin her down. I drew my fist back to deliver a knock out punch.
"Stop!" she screamed. "Stop! I surrender."
I lowered my fist. She shot up and slammed her forehead into my face. Her knee rammed in the gut and pushed me off.
"You should have learned from the first time you hesitated," she spat.
She turned to run, but I caught her around the ankle and dragged her to the ground. I only got a few paces before my knees suddenly buckled. I looked back and saw a knife impaled into my calf all the way up to the hilt. Jocelyn stood behind me twirling a small blade.
"You didn't say anything about other weapons."
"Whoops, I must have left that out." She picked up the gun. "Guess it can't be helped. Looks like you lose."
BANG!
I closed my eyes and waited for the pain. Instead I heard a thud as something landed beside me. I cracked an eye and looked away.
Dammit, Matthew, why are you such an idiot? I told you I could handle it.
Jocelyn walked over and stood over him. She shook her head and sighed. "Such a pity, but cheaters never prosper." She pulled several bullets out of her pocket and reloaded the gun. She pointed the gun at Matthew's head and fired again.
"You crazy bitch," I snapped. "He's already dead."
She shrugged. "Just to making sure. So, how about another round?"
BANG!
"That's for Anton, bitch."
