Regret is a shadow that follows us around,
A constant reminder of opportunities we've found,
But failed to seize, or let slip away,
Leaving us with what-ifs at the end of the day.

It's a weight that we carry on our shoulders,
A burden that grows as we grow older,
A nagging voice that whispers in our ear,
Reminding us of choices that we fear.

Regret is a longing for what could have been,
A yearning for a different scene,
A sadness that lingers in our heart,
As we wonder if we played our part.

It's a lesson that we learn too late,
A bitter taste that we can't escape,
A road not taken, a path not chosen,
That leaves us feeling lost and frozen.

But regret can also be a guide,
A lesson for us to abide,
A reminder of the value of time,
And the need to make the most of every climb.

For in regret, we find the strength,
To take the chances that come at length,
To seize the day, to make it count,
And to live life without a doubt.

So let regret be a teacher to us all,
A reminder to answer the call,
To live life with purpose and intent,
And to never let a single moment be spent.
