A lie, a falsehood, a deceitful tale,
A web of untruths that we often unveil,
A whispered word, a half-truth told,
A slippery slope that we often behold.
It starts so small, a little white lie,
A fib to spare someone's feelings, we try,
But it soon grows, and takes on a life,
Of its own, a monster born of strife.
It twists and turns, and weaves its way,
Into our hearts, and begins to sway,
Our thoughts and actions, our very soul,
Until we're lost, and out of control.
For lies are like a poison, that seeps,
Into our hearts, and steals our sleep,
A weight upon our conscience, that we bear,
Until we're lost, and filled with despair.
So let us speak the truth each day,
And let our words be honest, in every way,
For though it may be hard to do,
The truth is always the right thing, it's true.
For in the end, it's all we have,
Our integrity, our honor, our path,
So let us walk it with grace and pride,
And let the truth be our faithful guide.
