Goner

Goner, oh goner, what a heavy word,
It speaks of loss, of things unheard.
It tells of endings, of things that pass,
Of memories fading, like footprints in the grass.

A goner is a thing that's gone,
A thing that we can't hold on,
It's something that we can't retrieve,
No matter how much we may grieve.

A love that's lost, a dream that's shattered,
A friendship gone, a hope that's battered,
These are the things that make us feel,
Like we're a goner, like we can't heal.

But in the midst of all the pain,
There's still a chance to live again,
To find new love, to dream anew,
To make new friends, to start anew.

So goner, oh goner, though it hurts to say,
There's still a chance for a brand new day,
For life goes on, and so must we,
To find new hope, and set our hearts free.
