Book 1: Sakura Heart (Kiba Love Story)

Chapter 82

Sakuya's P. O. V:

"So, what's this mission again?" Ren asks as we head into the forest with Shikamaru a couple of days after my first S Ranked mission.

"Weren't you paying attention, Ren? We have to capture an escaped ferret," I remind him.

"Right," Says Shikamaru.

I turn to him as I ask, "I assume you have a plan on how to catch it?"

He nods his head. "Of course."

Ren and I listen closely as the Nara fills us in on his plan.

I peek out from behind a tree with Ren and Homura, Shikamaru doing the same from opposite us, as we watch the white coloured ferret scamper across the forest floor. It gas black markings on its tail and black eyes.

It was so cute! Now I think I want one myself.

We'd set up a trap to capture the ferret, as it's too quick otherwise.

Our new mission is to capture the missing ferret and deliver him to the next village.

The ferret avoids the first trap, a log with leaves covering it, and moves to the next one, with bits of food hanging over it. The ferret scampers past it too.

Ren says, "Oh, yeah! We got him!"

I hiss at him, "Hey! This is important! Be quiet!" I put my fingers to my lips for emphasis before I look back at the ferret. It climbs over a rock to where some bamboo shoots have been held up by rope, and sniffs there. The ferret stands up on its hind legs and places its front legs on the bamboo, however it causes them to fall from their ropes.

The ferret squeaks in fright before running away. It leaps over a rock before running back around and in the direction of the box trap with a fake ferret on top. The second the real ferret scurries under the box, the stick holding it up collapses, the box landing on top of the ferret.

"Nice!" Says Shikamaru.

"We did it!!" Ren laughs as I grin before the four of us (including Homura) dash toward our captured target.

I kneel down and lift the box before I gesture with my hand for the ferret to come out. It pokes its head out and jumps onto my left shoulder. I giggle as it scurries to my right shoulder and I stroke it, "Well, now! You're friendly, aren't you, girl? Now I really wanna ask Kakashi-kun for a ferret as a pet!"

Shikamaru says to me, "I think you have enough pets, Sakuya."

"I don't have a ferret," I say with a pout. "They're so cute! Besides, one could never have too many pets!"

Shikamaru states as he studies the ferret, "Her tail tip has black fur on it and she wears a silver vest. Yup. It looks like we bagged our animal!" Ren laughs in triumph, hands folded behind his head. Shikamaru glances to my teammate pointedly. "You gonna cage him?"

Ren continues to laugh meanly as he says, taking the carrier and opening it, "I can't believe this furball fell for such a lame trap!" He looks a little nervous when the ferret suddenly hisses at him furiously, fur standing up. "What is it...?"

I scold him, glaring, "Ren! Stop antagonising him!"

"What do you mean? What'd I do?!" The blonde demands to know as the ferret lunges for his face. Ren cries out as the ferret scratches his face and leaps over his head, knocking him down in the process.

Shikamaru yells as we chase after the ferret, "You knucklehead! Don't let her get away!"

I yell at the blue eyed boy, "If you lose her, I'll beat you senseless!!"

Ren dashes after the tan coloured ferret, and he grabs him, but Ren ends up in one of the hidden rope traps that was meant for the ferret. Shikamaru drops into a crouch and puts his hand to his forehead as he lets out a groan of exaggeration at the Takahashi dangling from the tree with the ferret clinging to Ren's right cheek by his teeth before us.

I yell in frustration, fist clenched, "IDIOT!!!"

Ren grumbles as we walk along a road, the ferret in the carrier on my back, "Man, I can't believe someone would pay us to find this rabid little runt! He's like the meanest cat ever!!"

I smile as Shikamaru tells Ren simply, hands stuffed in his pants pockets, "Quit your complaining, will ya? A mission's a mission. Besides, the hard part's over. Now we just have to deliver him to his owner."

I correct the blonde, "And he's not a cat, Ren. Haven't you seen a ferret before?! He's totally adorable! I'm so gonna try to get Kakashi-kun to get me one!"

The Crystal Style user grumbles, "Whatever. Let's just dump him and get back to the Leaf Village, already!"

It takes us the rest of the day to get to the outpost village, but we eventually manage to find it and the owner of the ferret, an elderly woman who named the ferret Silver, sue to her silvery coat.

Once the ferret was safely delivered, we say our goodbyes and make our way home.

"Finally!! Good riddance to that fleabag," Sighs Ren.

"Don't be mean! She was adorable!" I gosh.

"Mire like a devil in disguise to me," Grumbles Ren as we continue home.

If Kakashi won't let me have a ferret, maybe my parents will...?

Since I'm not doing the second Naruto movie, I thought I'd do a mission based off of the ferret catching one from the Legend of the Stone of Gelel!

We're almost at the end of the first book, guys!! Just a few more littke story arcs and the third movie, and we're done with Sakura Heart!!

Of course there's a Shippuden sequel in the works, but more info on that at the end of the book!!
