~Eleanor’s POV~

I opened the door to find Ryan, wearing a navy blue button-up shirt with dark tight jeans and dress shoes. His hair was perfectly messy and his deep brown eyes shined. He smiled, I looked at my shoes blushing.

My mind didn’t want to do this, but my heart did. Mistrust still sat patiently in the back of my thoughts, but was still loud enough to make me doubt this decision. I hated that this night would bring Nathan back into my thoughts.

Ryan held out his hand for mine. I hesitated, scared of hurt and rejection. Apparently he noticed and whispered, “There will be moonlight walks in the park and fireworks included on this date.” I smiled up to him and he winked.

I haven’t felt wanted in a long time. I was only familiar with being used and hurt.

I took his hand and he led me to his black SUV parked along the sidewalk outside our building. He opened the passenger door for me and I got in and watched him jog to the driver’s side and buckle his seat belt.

We drove for only 10 minutes until we got to this city park, in the center of the area. It was huge with a marvelous playground and several ponds and scattered trees and benches. A tar path snaked it’s way through the park, and sparkled from the unique street lamps.

A few people walked around, some chatting across picnic tables and bonfires. Ryan slid his arm around my waist and guided me along the path. He then led me off the pavement and into the big grassy area and we sat down of the soft, warm grass.

“I barely know anything about you,” I blurted. This was probably why rejection was a normal thing for me, because I’m so forward and curious.

“What do you wanna know?” he chuckled.

“Where are you from?”

“Here,” he smirked. I rolled my eyes and asked, “Why do you live with Ian, Jamie, and Nash?”

“We’re going to the same college you are!” Lovely.

“Why are you so annoying?” I teased.

“I’m not ‘annoying’, I’m fun!”

“Oh really?’

“Really,” he nodded. The next half hour was just what Ryan said. Fun. We talked about our dreams and family. I told him my parents ditched Minnesota for Mexico for the next 3 months. We talked about childhood pets and the most random things like what our favorite tele-tubby was and where we wanted to travel on this earth.

“I’m going to take you to London,” he smiled.

“Ryan, that costs so much, and you just met me!”

“Doesn’t matter! I’ll do whatever you want.”

“Okay… go jump in the fountain,” I challenged him. He raised his eyebrows and the dashed towards the structure.

“Ryan! You’re going to get in trouble!” I shouted after him, but he still sprinted towards the water. He jumped in and people turned toward him, some smiling, some with annoyed expressions. I burst out laughing and fell back on my stomach the rolled back up again. He leaded and came rushing towards me.

“Ryan! Ryan, you better not!” And then he scooped me up with his wet arms and swung me around, both of us laughing hard. We then fell back onto the ground and panted from exhaustion. He looked over at me and I looked at him. His face was dotted with drips of water, his hair and clothes were soaked.

His face lit up as a firework suddenly exploded in the sky above us. First a green one, then a purple. Some big, some small. His hand held mine, are fingers intertwined. They fit well there, it felt comforting.
