-ELEANOR’S POV-

I woke up to a rainy Wednesday morning. Low thunder rumbled as rain drops fell, hitting the windows softly. Ryan and I hardly ever wake up at the same time; I’m alone in his bed. I lay there for a couple minutes before actually getting out of the warmth.

I walk out to the living room and find everyone there; all 4 boys and Nick and Molly. Another roll of thunder cracks outside. Everyone is watching Ryan and Nash do push-ups.

“What’s going on?!” I laughed.

“Push-up contest!” Molly cheers. I guessed they just started because Nash and Ryan were counting together, “Twelve! Thirteen! Fourteen!”

Ryan smiled. “Fifteen! Morning babe! Sixteen! Seventeen!”

Everyone laughed. “You look so fit when you to push-ups Ryan Follese,” I smiled.

“Would you like to lay under me babe?” he asked smirking, while Nash kept counting, in the twenties now. I giggled and walked over to him. I go beneath him and he does that smirk again and I can’t help but laugh.

“Thirty!” they scream, and he comes down to kiss me. Every time he lowers his lips he gives me a soft peck on mine. At forty-three he falls beside me, all sweaty.

“I win!” Nash shouted.

“Yeah? But I won Eleanor!” he shouts also pulling me on top of him.

“You can have her, I got my Molly!” Nash laughs as he sits down on the couch and pulls her onto his lap. Jamie and Nick are laughing, his arm secure around her waist. Ian… Ian is laughing with a piece of toast in his hand?

A loud crack of thunder interrupts our fun. All our stares whip towards the windows as they vibrate from the tremendous noise. Ryan actually grips me tighter, his fun expression is gone.

“What’s wrong babe?” I laugh lightly, confused for the sudden mood change.

“Ryan’s scared of thunder!” Ian says mockingly, his mouth full of food.

“AM NOT!” Ryan yells sitting us up.

“Stop acting all tough, you’ve been afraid of thunder for as long as I can remember!” Jamie chuckles.

“Fine, it’s my weakness!” Ryan breathes dramatically.

As if on cue it thunders again, not as big but still significant. We make eye contact and I laugh.

“I still love you though,” I say. “Why don’t we go get our luggage out of the car?”

“Ewwww,” he complains.

“C’mon!” I say trying to drag him but failing because I’m not as strong as he is obviously.

“Fine,” he groans. We walk hand in hand down the hall to the elevators and go all the way down to the underground parking garage. The storm is muted down here but you can slightly hear the rain from the opening to the area on the other side of the space. I had two suitcases and a dufflebag and Ryan had only two suitcases. We rolled and hauled all of it into the elevator again.

“Holy shit this heavy!” I gasp.

“I would help but this suitcase is filled with shoes and it’s killing my arm,” Ryan smirks.

“I think you own more shoes than me!” I exclaim.

“I seriously wouldn’t doubt it!” he snickers.

He presses the button for our floor and we begin to go up.

Suddenly we are jerked all over the place as the elevator comes to screeching stop. The lights flicker and the small space goes dark, I can’t see Ryan’s face anymore. We find and hold onto each other until the jerking stops and then it’s dead silent.

Ryan digs his phone out of his pocket and the screen lights up, illuminating our faces but nothing else. I can feel our luggage around us.

“No reception,” he says, worry mixes with his voice.

“It’s probably the storm,” I say trying to sound calm for him. I remember him telling me he was really claustrophobic during one of our random conversations. The worry on his face is evident and his eyes lock onto mine.

We can’t call for help, all the electricity was dead in the lift so we couldn’t even contact the employees of our building. Did they even know we were stuck in here, did they know the elevator stopped and we are stranded in the dark with one granola bar in my bag?!

“Eleanor-,” Ryan urgently whispers, he’s starting to tremble.

I crawl into his lap and take his face in my hands.

“Shhh,” I give him a soft quick kiss. “Everything will be okay, shhh. They’ll find us,” I try to sound reassuring but I hope my fear doesn’t seem evident…
