MYRA'S POV

I let out a tired sigh and dragged my feet back to my cabin from the minor OT. I was sure these tight plastic gloves must have left red marks on my skin. Pushing the door open with my foot, the first thing I did was take off my gloves and the mask. A breath of relief escaped my mouth as the blood flow normalised in my fingers.

Sitting with your back straight for hours while working with your tools and side by side handling the tantrums of a small kid getting his cavity removed isn't easy. Even my eyes felt dried up after scrunching them for 40 minutes straight to focus better. I made a messy bun of my hair and leaned forward massaging my stiff neck.

The door of my cabin was slammed open and an annoying voice echoed through the room earning a low groan from me. I opened my eyes and looked up with a bored look, knowing very well who it was. A smirk made it's way onto my lips at the sight of her irritated face.

There she was, my first cousin, the only daughter of my father's eldest brother standing at my door, ready to throw a tantrum like a child. I made a click sound from my mouth openly expressing my displeasure upon her unwanted presence. Tilting my head to the side, I asked her in a lazy tone.

"What's the problem now, Tara?"

She looked at me with a scowl and attempted to step her foot inside when Abhir came running from behind, blocking her way by placing his arm as a barrier in front of her. She let out a gasp while I bit my lips to control my laugh. Abhir looked at me apologetically and spoke.

"I am sorry ma'am but this lady wasn't letting us check her bag and then she claimed she is your relative, So we weren't sure if we should stop her or not and then she just ran inside."

I stood up from my chair and gestured to him to release her while saying.

"It's ok, let her in."

Tara shot a glare at Abhir and stepped in after he took his arm back. She walked up to me at such a fast pace that Abhir almost panicked thinking she was about to attack me but my composed face gave him the assurity that things were fine. I was used to her bad temper.

"What do you think of yourself huh?"

She yelled and crossed her arms against her chest, I scratched the side of my temple. Showing her a wide facade grin, I exclaimed with fake confusion.

"uhh..Your boss?"

The colour of her face drained away in a swift movement. She gulped down while I looked at her up and down. Placing her bag on my table with a thud, she pushed her hair back and blamed me.

"Do you think I am some kind of criminal? Why do I have to go through a security check? Do you have no sense of us being a family?"

Oh! Going through a security check must have hurted her fragile ego, Who knows why she acted so entitled for no Goddamn reason.
A scoff left my lips at her words, where do some people get the audacity?

That word, "Family" from her mouth sounded like a cuss. Annoyance spread through my chest as I remembered all the incidents at which they proved to be our "Family."

Despite knowing my father's ill temper, they never once showed my mother any sympathy or support. Instead I have only seen her mother and my granny throwing taunts at her and they pricked me. For once I may understand that my mother was an outsider for them but Mr. Harsh Khanna, Tara's father, is my father's real blood, real brother right?

When even he didn't help us when my father was on the verge of losing his job, what else can we expect from his wife and daughter? I gritted my teeth, trying my best to not explode in anger. Her mother had the biggest hand in tearing our family apart and sadly, she also managed to pass down the same poison to her daughter.
