MYRA'S POV
"Noone is too busy to pick up their fiancé. He is coming. Wait for him Myra."
And she hung up before I could say anything else. Her last words echoed in my mind once again as I sat down on the stool placed right in front of the full size mirror. My fingers unknowingly traced the glass bangles adorned around my wrist.
Maybe for the first time, the bangles given by Mrs. Kapoor actually went well with my outfit, a slight smile managed to work its way up to my lips but it didn't stay for too long, once a sense of guilt settled inside my chest.
I gulped down and matched my gaze in the mirror, guilt ridden eyes. It was me who wanted to establish a friendly relationship between us since it would be suffocating to stay like strangers in the same house.
And it was also me, who shutted him up and pushed him away two times when he was trying to be friendly, once on our date and the second during our last conversation. Despite his cold exterior he tried while I neglected all of those attempts, letting my fears take over me every single time.
My eyes would never be able to forget the sight of him, running to my house all drenched up in rain late at night because of a single call. What he did in the hospital was something I would always be grateful for still instead of thanking him properly, I.....
"Get it together Myra, Just apologise and say thank you."
I reminded myself while making a fist reflecting my determination before getting up from the room and making my way outside. My parents sat together in the living room watching Tv, a very rare sight to look at indeed.
The sound of my anklets must have reached their ears as their eyes immediately darted towards me. My mother let out a short amusing sound while a smile was passed to me by my father, which I hesitated to reciprocate.
"Kiti goad distes tu!"
(You look so beautiful!)My mother's astonished and dramatic expression of complimenting me earned a genuine chuckle from me. It was 6 in the evening, the party was supposed to commence after 8, I was going early as requested by Mrs.Kapoor.
I sat down on the couch, enjoying the rare peace around the house. Seeing me sitting down, My father asked with a frown.
"Don't you have to go?"
"Siddharth is going to pick me up."
It was only after 15 minutes of me letting out those words that I heard a loud horn from outside. My heart suddenly picked up a pace as a weird sensation spread in my stomach causing a shaky breath to escape from my lips. Standing up, I signalled my parents that I was going.
As I was wearing my sandals from the shoe rack placed to the right of our main gate, another car horn ringed in my ear. This man has no patience, I shook my head at the thought and finally opened the door only to see him leaning against the passengers door While his head was dipped gazing at his phone screen.
No formals, It was my first time seeing him wearing something else other than those grey and black coats. I unknowingly sucked in a breath, he was still unaware of my presence as my eyes took in his presence carefully.
A cream coloured kurta hugging his torso like a sticking plant, his hair as always perfectly combed as if they don't understand the concept of air messing with them. I didn't know his forearms could be more enhanced but they could be; When he wears traditionals and has his sleeves rolled up a few times.
My lips formed a thin line as I shook myself out of those unnecessary thoughts. His demeanour was just too intense for anyone to not pay attention to, I thought to myself trying to justify me spending a minute just staring at him.
