MYRA'S POV
"Myra?"
Please God no, have mercy. When I begged to spot at least one human being around me, I didn't mean for it to be exactly the person I would dread to see in this situation.
"Hello Siddharth."
I said through my gritted teeth, swallowing the words, "Go away." There he was walking towards me, when he was probably the last person I wanted to see right now. As soon as he entered my talking range, I spoke up, giving him no chance to even register my presence first.
"Where is my mother?"
He must have sensed the desperation, which literally dripped off my words. The pounding ache in my lower belly blurred my mind, I was in position to beat around the bush. My period cramps had always been like this, unbearable most of the time.
The light frown between Siddharth's eyebrows further intensified as he gazed at my tightly pressed lips. He pushed the confusion back for a second to answer my earlier question.
"Oh, She went home. Sanvi came back and the keys were with your mother."
What the-!
Oh I wanted to yell out, "Could this get any worse?" but I bit my tongue keeping those words locked in. I didn't want to challenge God's ability at such a time when I was already losing my mind.My father had gone out with his friends. Sanvi was still at college when we went shopping and the lock keys had to come with us. I forced a mocking smile at my own fate. The longer I wait, the bigger that stain will get.
"Myra, why are you smiling like a psychopath? Are you actually going to kill me?"
He framed the question well, as if he was actually scared but the top tier sarcasm was crystal clear on his face. I looked him dead in the eyes, you can't punch your fiancé, Myra.
"Where is your mother or Poonam?"
It would be a little awkward but maybe they could help me with this. However that would be, it must be better than taking this man's help who stood in front of me with a teasing glint in his eyes, as if that gaze was reserved for me only.
And no, it didn't make me feel special at all."They went to walk your mom to the exit. Still haven't returned, might have gone distracted by another shop or something."
He answered coolly like his words didn't drain the colour out of my face and shoved his hands into his blazer's pocket. Exactly! This man came to shop in his work attire. I honestly wanted to cry, my breaking point was one annoying breath away. I let out a soft breath, hoping to get my emotions in line.
Siddharth frowned, probably sensing my discomfort as he questioned.
"What happened? You look a little uncomfortable and haven't even tried on the dress you brought here with you."
I had no choice. We couldn't keep standing outside this trial room forever. My patience was running out. The pain had spread from my belly to thighs, I didn't even want to keep standing for any longer.
Closing my eyes for a brief second, I thought to myself, "if he laughed, just punch him. Yes! You can do this Myra." And I pushed back all the shame and finally said it.
"I have got my periods earlier."
"Oh, do you need a sanitary napkin?"
Excuse me? I looked at him with crushed eyebrows. This wasn't the response I expected. No mocking or teasing grin, instead what I heard was a tone full of sincerity and eyes full of, something I couldn't comprehend, concern?
