SIDDHARTH'S POV

A cloud of fury would probably burst on me tonight, and I can't even blame anyone but myself.

It had been more than thirty minutes since the dark night sky had surrounded its king, the moon. The king which was very much visible ruling the dark effortlessly.

“Fuck this traffic.” I slapped the steering wheel in frustration. Those blinking 60 seconds of the red light felt like 60 minutes.

How could time rush and feel so slowed down at the same time?

A little hope ignited in my heart as I saw the signal turn green. The engine of my car roared. I let out a cold breath, my patience had ended now.

Pressing my toe a little too hard on the excelerator, I boosted the pace of my car.

Speed had never been a problem to me anyways!

The previous red light would probably prove to be the last traffic rule I would adhere to this night.

And then with one sharp left cut,
I finally entered a lane which stored some of the sweetest memories of my childhood, quite literally sweet memories…The bakery!

“One–no no, two red velvet cupcakes and  one chocolate one.” I was still panting slightly as I placed my order.

This time there stood a relatively young boy, a maximum of 21 years old, behind the counter, looking at me awkwardly.

Fuck! I must look like some lunatic. My cheeks were practically red since I ran till here from my car.

Nonetheless, he nodded and turned his back at me to arrange what I asked for.

Letting out a few deep breaths, I tried to calm my racing heart. It didn't work though.

I mentally mapped all the things I had to buy for the third time, not wanting to miss a single thing.

Pasta and pizza? Check.
Flowers? Check.
Gift? Check.
Cake…? I looked at the counter, seeing the young man packing my order. Almost check.

“Excuse me,” I walked up to him. “Uh..Can you write sorry on the chocolate cupcake with vanilla?” Shit! This was embarrassing!

Chocolate cupcake, because it was mine and wouldn't dare to mess a single thing with her red velvet ones, not tonight at least.

The man looked confused, or maybe a little surprised for a second but it didn't take long before he realised and smiled, Teasingly? huh?

Clearing my throat, I diverted my gaze for a few seconds. Red coziness blanketed my cheeks.

“Messed up eh? Got your girlfriend angry?” He wiggled his eyebrows, seemingly more interested in my love life than required.

I wanted to shut him up, ask him to mind his own freaking business but the image of Myra getting upset with me, waiting there hungry all because and for me, pricked my heart.

I couldn't help but drown a little more in my own guilt. “Wife actually..” A sigh escaped my lips.

Every damn poem was right, love does change you, so much so that you don't recognize yourself.

Never thought I would be sharing these things to a random bakery guy I was seeing for the first time.

“Damm, that's even bad,” He exclaimed while looking down, working on his art, writing sorry on the cupcake. “You are in trouble, I guess.” He added little white hearts around the sorry.
