Clarke wakes up with the hangover of the century and she groans as she rolls to her side. For a moment, she is disoriented, confused about where she is. Until she realizes she is in a hotel room in Portland on a business trip. But wait a minute... She is in her boss' hotel room, not her own. Startled, Clarke shoots upright, causing her head to spin dangerously, followed by a wave of nausea.
"There's water and painkillers on the nightstand."
Clarke looks over to the small desk near the window and Ms. Evergreen is already typing away at her ever-present laptop, not even looking up as she points at the nightstand.
Clarke scoots over to reach the water and downs it along with the pills in one go before looking around the room.
There's a blanket and a pillow laying on a couch that definitely was never meant to be slept on. And her dress is neatly placed on a hanger on the curtain rod.
Her eyes immediately shoot down at her own body and she sighs in relief when she realizes she isn't laying in her boss' bed naked.
Slowly, memories from last night start trickling into Clarke's fuzzy brain.
First, she is hit by a strange warmness when she remembers Lexa handing her a shirt from the gift shop and feeding her and taking care of her. Then, the embarrassment follows swiftly.
Clarke had only eaten a very limited amount of snacks at the party yesterday after not eating all day, so there had been nothing inside her stomach to soak up the three glasses of alcohol she had consumed a bit too quickly. Being this drunk from a limited amount of alcohol wasn't normal for her, but she still should have known better. She had mostly stopped drinking after her college days, so even though she could drink anyone under the table up until a few years ago, she was way out of practice now.
She was pretty sure she hadn't embarrassed Lexa or herself at the party itself, however, she had always been an outrageous flirt when she was drunk. And she certainly had flirted with her boss, Alexandria Evergreen, a taken woman.
Of course, Clarke herself wasn't single either, but despite the fact that part of her mission was seducing Lexa, the flirting had been genuine, and it would have happened regardless.
"I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am, Ms. Evergreen," Clarke speaks, her voice more horse than usual.
Still not looking up from her computer, and already wearing one of her business suits, Lexa responds, "It's alright, it happens. Just be more careful next time."
Clarke studies her boss from across the room, then, wanting to fill the silence, she says, "Thank you for the food and the shirt."
Finally, Lexa looks up and their eyes meet briefly before Lexa looks at her watch and says, "We have meetings to get to soon, Ms. Grinfield. Your phone and keycard are on the nightstand."
Clarke looks, and true to Lexa's word, both are sitting there, neatly placed. And when Clarke picks up her phone and unplugs it from the charger, it's charged to a full 100%.
And there are four messages and a missed facetime from Finn.
Clarke can barely hold in a loud curse before she looks from her phone to Lexa and back again.
