Instead of working, Lexa is just staring at her phone, willing a message to come in from the blonde. She knew it was likely that it would take days or weeks for the other woman to reach out to her if she ever would. But that didn't stop her heartrate from increasing in speed every time a notification popped up.
It was probably unhealthy.
Not that that would stop Lexa though.
After she grows sick of staring at her lock screen, which may or may not still have been a picture of her and Clarke together, she opens up the message thread with the other woman.
Message after message with a bright red exclamation mark below it shows up on her screen as far as she can scroll.
She decides that right now would be as good of a time as any to start deleting them so that if the blonde ever messaged her again, she wouldn't have to be faced with her own desperation.
It was quite a task, holding down the exclamation marks on every message and hitting delete. Sure, it was only two steps, but there were a lot of times where she had tried apologizing and pouring her heart out even though she knew perfectly well at that point that her texts wouldn't go through, and the blonde would never get to see them.
She even had some drunk unsent messages there. Those were probably the worst, and she cringes having to look at them right now to get rid of them.
Sometimes being blocked had its perks, she supposed.
Shit.
She had missed the 'delete' button on one of the messages and had hit 'resend' instead.
Shit.
The exclamation mark wasn't instantly appearing again.
SHIT.
The message was showing as delivered.
Wait... The blonde had unblocked her?!
Lexa was screaming internally, the tense muscles in her face relaxing and a goofy smile pulling at her lips. This was a positive step, right?
However, her heart drops when she realizes which message sent.
"Goddamnit, Lexa, you idiot," she curses at herself. She just had to go and fuck things up again, didn't she?
And what's worse is that she was supposed to allow the other woman space. Allow her to take the first step.
She rapidly types out an apology and frantically hits 'send'.
The read receipt was already saying the blonde had seen the messages. Shit. There was no turning back now, she would just have to deal with the consequences of her clumsiness and her stupid drunken behavior from weeks ago.
The typing bubbles pop up within seconds and Lexa feels a bead of sweat trickle down her back.
