I woke up in the middle of the night disoriented, with cold sweat drenching my shirt. I looked around me but quickly noticed a detail, that wasn't normal; Aace wasn't in the bed with me, so I got up to check all the apartment.
"Aace?" I called out for him, but no answers. And I easily realized that Aace wasn't even in the apartment.
Where the hell did he go? I made my way back to the bedroom when I heard the door slamming and his gaze met mine.
"Why aren't you sleeping?"
My eyes fall on his white shirt and I notice that it's covered in blood.
"Where were you?" I asked, ignoring his question.
"It doesn't concern you. Go back to sleep Ivory. You'll be tired tomorrow." He advised me, as he went into the bathroom, but I followed him.
"Well you see, you're covered in blood, and you came home at three A.M. So I think it does concern me. I'm going to ask again, where were you and what the fuck did you do." I repeated harshly as he didn't dare to look up at me, as he threw his dirty shirt in the bathtub.
"Business shit." He affirmed.
"Business shit?"
"Yes."
I scoffed. "And can I know what this 'business shit' is or is that too much to ask?"
"I already told you, go back to sleep."
"Do you think I'm some sort of weak and fragile woman you need to protect? Because I'm not. And I must warn you; I'm going to sit with my ass here until you tell me what happened."
He stepped dangerously closer to me. "You want to fucking know what I did? Fine. But don't come crying after. You see, I killed some Russian fuckers because they wouldn't tell me where Kirill is and what his plans are. And you want to know why I did it? I did it all because of you."
"Because of me?"
"Yes, because of you! Don't you fucking see that I'd kill a billion of men, only to protect you!" He shouted and I was stunned by his words.
"You drive me crazy, Ivory! Every moment of the day I find myself thinking about you! You're in my fucking soul! And can't you see that you're consuming me? I'm fucking obsessed with you, I'm addicted! I want to be with you every day, every night. And you're the only woman that crosses my mind! So, yes. Sometimes I'll have to protect you from what I'm doing. And sometimes even from myself! But that's because you're my fucking woman, and I'd do anything you'd ask me to do for you! And you want to know why?"
I stared at him in disbelief, from all the words he pronounced.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I croaked out, "Yes. Tell me."
"Because I fucking love you! And it's killing me. Because I know damn well I'm not worthy of you! I don't even deserve you! Yet you were there, in the middle of the night, wondering where I could've possibly been, and fucking worrying about me. You stand by my side constantly, not caring about what could possibly happen in the future, and all of this because you trust me! And you look at me like I'm not some sort of monster, but like I'm actually a decent human being!" He exploded, he told me so much.
My heart ached for him. I carefully stepped closer to him, putting my hands on his cheeks.
"But Aace... You are a human being. And I don't care about what you can do or say... I feel safe with you. And I love being with you. And you make these thoughts... Go away sometimes. You calm me down."
"But I'm a monster..." He reaffirmed as his head fell on my chest, and he wrapped his arms around my waist.
I caressed his hair gently.
"No... You're not a monster. You're the man I married. And if you want me to be honest with you... I love you. I love you Aace... So, so much."
He looked at me, and I'm pretty sure his eyes were teary. "What did you just say?"
"I said I love you." I smiled, and kissed the top of his head. "Yeah... I love you. And you're enough for me."
His arms tightened around me. "I love you more... Till death do us part. Remember? I love you. In this lifetime and the next."
"Till death do us part. Always and forever. Promise me."
"Always and forever." He repeated my words and I was melting. I let my head fall on his, and we stayed in each other's embrace for hours.
