Continuing from 'The Long Game - Part IV'

AFTER WAKING UP CATHICA AND EXPRESSING THEIR APPRECIATION FOR WHAT SHE DID, explaining what exactly she did do with Satellite Five now destroyed, they all walked back to where the TARDIS was parked. "We're just going to go." The Doctor told Cathica when they stopped halfway. "I hate tidying up. Too many questions. You'll manage."

"You'll have to stay and explain it," Cathica begged him. "No one's going to believe me."

"Oh, they might start believing a lot of things now." The Doctor told her. "The human race should accelerate. All back to normal."

"What about your friend?" Cathica nodded over to Adam who was waiting near the TARDIS.

Lily frowned over her shoulder at the human and, before she could say anything, the Doctor was already charging toward him. "He's not my friend." He called out to Cathica while Lily and Rose hurried to catch up with him.

Rose was trying to get through to the Doctor to not do anything rash but Lily stayed silent. "I'm all right now. Much better." Adam smiled when they got to him and handed Lily back her key. "And I've got the key." Lily took it back without saying anything and Adam could read her silence. He started stuttering. "Look, it's. ." His shaky voice got worse when he saw the Doctor's expression, which was nothing less than murderous. "It all worked out for the best, didn't it? You know, it's not actually my fault, because you were in charge!"

After pushing Adam inside the box, Lily and Rose following behind, he piloted the TARDIS- all four of them were quiet. When he parked and they all stepped out, the Doctor shoving Adam, the human grinned when he saw the familiar living room. "I'm home! Oh, my God, I'm home! Blimey. I thought you were going to chuck me out of an airlock." He joked.

Lily finally spoke up, feeling awkward as she hugged herself. "Adam? Is there something you want to tell us?" Her voice was soft.

"No." He lied to her face. "What do you mean?"

"Give me my phone." She took out her hand. He hesitated. "Now."

Adam took her purple Nokia and gave it to her. While she pocketed it the Doctor headed over to Adam's answering machine. "The archive of Satellite Five. One second of that message could've changed the world." he aimed his sonic at the phone letting it explode. "That's it then. See you."

"How do you mean, see you?"

"As in goodbye."

"But what about me?" He whined looking between the trio. "You can't just go. I've got my head. I've got a chip type two. My head opens!"

"What? Like this?" The Doctor snapped his fingers, opening the portal.

"Don't," Adam shouted, snapping his fingers, and closing the portal.

"Don't do what?" He opened it again with a smirk.

"Stop it!" Adam shouted, closing it again.

"Doctor," Lily called over her shoulder. "Knock it off. Please."

"Thank you." He looked down at Lily. "Come on Lily, please? I know you'd help me."

Lily's face fell. "I trusted you."

"I made a mistake. . ."

"A dire one, at that."

The Doctor added. "The whole of history could have changed because of you."

Adam's eyes widened like he finally understood that they were about to abandon them. "But I want to come!"

The Doctor glowered. "I only take the best." He gestured to the girls. "I have Lily and Rose." They shared a smile, watching the Doctor take a step inside his box and disappeared inside. Lily and Rose were close behind, the former not having the strength to look back at the guy she had once had so much hope in.

- Author's Note -

Again, this wasn't my favorite story to write as the writing process was quite short. Some parts were barely even 1k words 🙄 And at most times I was finding it more difficult to add details to try and make it longer. But I still hope you enjoyed it regardless :)

Heck, it's probably my least re-watched episode of season one, haha!

Love you guys <3

Question of the Day

QOTD ~ What book are you currently reading?

Kayleigh's answer ~ With the upcoming 'A Good Girls Guide To Murder' show, which I'll be seeing on Netflix on August 1st (!!) .. I'm in the process of continuing the trilogy.

Last time I read the first book it was back in 2022 and was a five star read. Halfway through the book at this moment and I see it still staying on top of my faves list!

Something about Holly Jackson's writing is like a drug to me! 😅
