57 - Boom Town (Part II)

FAVORITE WAS A LOOSE TERM when it came to Margaret. Lily was still seethingly angry at the Slitheen who nearly killed her and her sister. Resentment is not a good enough word to explain her feelings for Margert and she was worried she wouldn't be able to hold that back when they met again. The Doctor, Lily, and Jack made it into the city hall foyer first with Mickey and Rose trailing behind, stopping at the top of the three steps.

"According to intelligence, the target is the last surviving member of the Slitheen family, a criminal sect from the planet Raxacoricofallapatorious, masquerading as a human being, zipped inside a skin suit," Jack spoke, not letting anyone get a word in- to explain to him they already knew all of these facts. "Okay, plan of attack, we assume a basic fifty-seven fifty-six strategy, covering all available exits on the ground floor. Doctor, you go face to face. That'll designate Exit One." The Doctor gave Jack a look that made Lily chuckle. "I'll cover Exit Two. Lily, you Exit Three. Rose, you take Exit Four. Mickey Smith, you take Exit Five. Have you got that?"

The Doctor glared at Jack. "Excuse me. Who's in charge?"

Jack frowned, realizing he crossed the line. "Sorry. Awaiting orders, sir."

The Doctor gave a firm nod. "Right. Here's the plan." He paused a minute to think then looked at Jack. "Like he said. Nice plan!" Jack let out a sigh of relief. "Anything else?"

Jack ordered. "Present arms."

"Ready." The Doctor pulled out a cell phone.

"Ready," Lily added.

"Ready." Rose joined in.

"Ready," Mickey reported.

"Ready." Jack was the last to pull out a cell phone. He fiddled with his settings. "Speed dial?"

"Yup." The Doctor popped the 'p.'

"On it!" Lily spoke.

"Ready," Rose confirmed.

"Check," Mickey said.

"See ya in hell." Jack joked, and then they all went the way they were told to go.

"Slitheen heading north!" Lily heard the Doctor shout from his end of the phone.

"I'm on my way!" Lily hung up her phone and quickly repocketed it, running swiftly down the corridor she found herself in. Feeling quite proud of herself when she expertly slid under a couch being moved by two employees. Lily flung open the glass double doors and found herself in a side alleyway right in front of Margaret. The doors that Lily exited out of were apparently her destination but now the ginger was in her way. With a hiss, she turned to her right and saw Rose running towards her. And from the other side, across a parking lot, Jack was doing the same.

Lily was too late to grab Margaret who was now running towards the front of the building. Running past a balcony she heard the Doctor shout from above her. "Margaret!"

When they regrouped, all of them nearly out of breath, Jack forced out when Margaret ran right past another exit. "Who was on Exit Five?"

Rose confessed with a sigh, joining the team. "That was Mickey."

"Here I am!" Mickey said as he joined the others from behind.

"Mickey the Idiot." The Doctor muttered.

"Oh, to be fair," Rose came to Mickey's aid. "she's not exactly going to outrun us, is she?"

When Margaret vanished in thin air, Jack groaned. "She's got a teleport! That's cheating! Now we're never going to get her."
