SEMAJ POV:

Picking up the pieces after a loss is hard. I can say that as a grown man. So I could only imagine how that feels for a kid. Nova lost his dad and I could never replace Cameron, that I know. So I never try to make Nova feel that way. It's hard for Nana and I to see him clearly hurting and to not know what to do to help.

Knock! Knock! I knocked on Nova's bedroom door then open it enough to stick my head in. He laid across his bed facing the wall.
"Hey buddy , can I come in?" I asked.
"Yeah." He replied in a low voice.

I came in and closed the door. I pulled his chair from his computer desk and sat down next to his bed.
"Hey wanna talk about what happened today?" I asked.
"Not really." He replied. He sniffled between words. I could tell he was crying.
"Hey look at me." Nova turned over and I saw he had a face full of tears. His eyes were red and I finally got a chance to see that black eye his mom was talking about.
"It's okay to talk about whatever you are feeling. Why you crying? Talk to me." He sat up to finally talk.

"I miss my dad." Nova finally spoke he wiped his eyes and more tears came running down.
"I know you do. I know losing him has been hard for you."
"It's not fair, why me? Why my dad?" Nova dropped his head.
"Look hold your head up, and let's talk about a few things." Nova rose his head back up completely , looking me in my eyes.
"I lost a lot of people too. I even lost a child of mine. The first thing I could think is , Why? Why me?" I started.
"Wait you lost a baby? When?"
"Yeah your mommy was pregnant before Princess. A friend of mines hurt mommy and she lost our baby." I explained to Nova.
"Wow that's really sad. How did you and mommy feel?"
"We were sad and it put us in a bad place. Kinda like how you feel after losing your dad. Trust me we understand how you feel. But we need you to open up to us , so we can help you get through it." I explained.
"Today my classmate was picking with me. I tried to ignore him and I even told the teacher. Still it didn't help. Then I just had enough and punched him in the face. Then we started fighting."
"Well I'm not mad that you felt like you had to defend yourself. Just know people are going to talk , they are going to talk about you and your  family. Mostly because they are mad that you have something they don't."
"I understand Semaj. Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure."
"The friend of yours that hurt mommy when she lost the baby , are you guys still friends?"
"No , we had been friends for years and he's gone now too. Let me tell you something I want you to always remember."
"What is it?"
"Disloyalty is unforgivable. No matter if it's blood or friends. Okay?"
"Okay."
"Now let's puts some ice on that eye, cause that shit looks crazy son." We both laughed a little then we made our way downstairs. Nana was sitting with the kids in the living room.

We came down and she looked happy to see I got Nova to come out his room. When it came down to the kids Nana and I made sure they were good no matter what. I'm mostly proud of the family we made together. I knew since we first met that I wanted a family with Nana. She is a nigga whole world.

After the kids ate and got in bed to lay with Nana in bed. While smoking and talking about some stuff.
"What did you and Nova talk about?" Nana asked. Passing me the blunt.
"We talk about losing people that we care about. I told him about the baby we lost."
"Wow really ? I haven't yet to tell them about that? How did the conversation go?"
"It's went well I explained that we lost a baby we both wanted and it hurt our feelings too. I let him know it's okay to feel how he feels. I told him we just need him to open up to allow us to be there for him how he needs us to be." I explained.
"Well that's good that you had a talk with him. I just hope it works. How did business go earlier?"
"It was cool , regular shit preparing shipment and the product too. Got some new cars on the lot. Business is going good."
"That's what I love to hear." I kissed her soft lips and she smiled.
