after an eventful day of ashton meeting violet's parents, her seeing them for the first time since she moved to california and her mom not being able to ask normal questions the whole time... they had a tiring rest of the day.

they met up with the guys while rose and lisa stayed at their parents house to have a few long conversations. violet showed them around the lake, around downtown, and they ended the day by going out to eat dinner.

by the time they went back to rose's house, violet was exhausted. although, she had almost completely pushed to the back of her mind what happened earlier in the day. ashton and her friends made up for that.

she told ashton she'd be okay after that whole ordeal, and she truly thought she would be. waking up the next morning is a completely different story.

this morning is weird. violet isn't feeling like herself at all. she doesn't understand what's going on. this feeling, it's something she hasn't felt for a while.

she's been laying awake for a while, facing away from ashton. his arm hanging loosely over her stomach, other arm resting under her neck, legs still tangled together.

she isn't happy, but she isn't sad either. it's a strange feeling. like she feels no emotion at all, apart from wanting to cry. and there's no stopping it either.

she feels a few tears slipping down her cheeks, quickly trying to wipe them away before they can fall too far. she sniffles quietly, trying not to wake ashton.

although, it isn't long before ashton is stirring, tightening his grip around violet as he wakes up. he kisses violet's shoulder softly, not having any idea that she'd already been awake, until she shuffles slightly, pressing her back against his front.

"morning, love," ashton whispers into her hair, kissing her cheek. "feeling alright?"

he doesn't get an answer, just a simple nod. not what he's used to. she'd usually ask him the same question as well as turning over to hug him, talk to him, discuss what they'd be doing for the day.

"sure?" he asks. not convinced.

another nod.

"i thought i'd cook us breakfast today," he continues anyway, knowing she never says no to the food he makes. "pancakes, maybe some eggs and hash browns if rose has any."

"i'm not hungry," violet mumbles.

"oh, that's okay. i could just make the pancakes for you instead?"

"no," she bluntly responds. not how she meant it to come out. "i think i need some more sleep, but you can go and eat."

she moves herself away from ashton slightly as she pulls the blankets up to her chin, almost completely covered. she lets her hair fall in her face, closing her eyes again.

ashton removes his arms from her, leaning up to sit himself up. he hovers over towards violet for a moment, seeing she must just be tired. unsure of the slight frown curving on her lips.

"if you're sure," ashton checks. violet nodding a third time. "um, i'll come and check on you in a little while, okay?"

expecting her to nod again, there's a different answer, "i'll just come and find you once i'm awake," she sighs.

"okay," ashton runs a hand through his hair, almost not sure how to proceed. "rest up, flower."

he leans down once more, leaving two lingering kisses on her cheek. he then gets up off of the bed, looking back at violet once more before leaving the room.

he uses the bathrom across the hall first, freshening himself up. he looks at himself in the mirror, not even sure how to start the day now violet isn't getting up with him. especially with how she just acted.
