third morning at ashton's cabin, third time to try and have a good day. are things going to go well this time? or will something else crop up for them?
it's early in the morning, 8 am, violet and ashton asleep, snuggled up together in the comfort of his bed. somehow ashton ended up being the little spoon.. that never happens. one of violet's arms around his torso, her head resting on his pillow just behind him.
she's first to wake up, a loud thump outside startling her. she lets out a long yawn, glancing over at the clock seeing it's a little early to get up already. she notices how they've ended up laying, smiling to herself as she presses a soft kiss to the top of his bare back.
deciding to go to the bathroom before heading back to sleep, she quietly gets out of bed. the very first thing she notices is how cold it seems compared to the past two days inside. wrapping her arms around herself. only wearing one of ashton's shirts to keep her covered.
standing in the middle of the bedroom, the light seems different coming from under the curtains. it's too... white? normally it would be glowing with sunshine.
she walks over, opening the curtain just slightly and... she's met with the sight of snow. snow everywhere. snow covering the ground, snow on the trees, snow on roof, icicles starting to form. she had no idea it could snow this much in california.
trying to contain her excitement, she turns around, ashton still fast asleep. she rushes over to the bed, getting in behind him again.
"ashton," she nudges his arm. after he doesn't move, she does it again. "ash."
last resort.
she climbs on top of him, causing him to roll onto his back, "ashton, baby," she takes his hands, squeezing them softly. finally, he starts to wake up, groaning at being woken up earlier than expected. "its snowing!"
violet's smile spread across her whole face, ashton blinks his eyes open slowly, furrowing his eyebrows slightly.
"huh?" he mumbles, placing his hands on her hips, caressing his thumbs back and fourth instinctively. "who's blowing?"
"ashton!" she hits his chest lightly.
"what's going on?" he asks with a yawn.
"it's snowing," she smiles. ashton's face lights up, this is the happiest he's seen her since before the wedding. "i didn't know it snowed here."
"it snows in california?" he teases sarcastically.
violet rolls her eyes, laying down on top of ashton. arms around his neck as his wrap around her torso.
"can we go out in the snow today?" she asks quietly.
"yea, course, i have some warm clothes we can wear out there." he confirms. "you know what else today is, baby?"
in her excitement over the snow, it almost didn't cross her mind. today is their four month anniversary. then another thought crosses her mind...
did he plan to be out at his cabin.. during their anniversary?
"it's our anniversary." violet hides her face against his neck, feeling as if her cheeks are flushing at that thought.
"happy four months, vi." he kisses her cheek softly. "i was going to sneak out and bring you coffee and fresh pastries from the cafe down town, but i guess i won't be doing that now it's snowed."
"well," violet pauses. "we can just walk there. i used to walk long distances in the snow when i lived in ohio."
ashton didn't seem sure about it, even though violet sounded enthusiastic to do that.
