this six month anniversary has been going better than violet ever imagined it too. their cafe date was perfect, walking around the lake and talking about anything and everything was wonderful. nothing could mess this day up.
currently everyone is at rose's house. the guys outside in the backyard, lisa and rose getting dinner ready, violet upstairs deciding on what to wear to go to her and ashton's dinner date.
she's been staring at her clothes for a good thirty minutes, not sure what to wear. she wants to wear something different out to dinner rather than her purple sundress again. but, she has nothing fitting for this occasion.
ashton is already ready, a nice suit on. suit bottoms, white shirt, a tie, he looks incredibly smart. violet doesn't know what to do. she can't turn up in a casual dress, she needs something better. she leaves the room, walking downstairs, going into the kitchen where rose is sipping on a glass of water.
"rosie," violet says quietly from the door. "can you help me real quick."
"yea, absolutely," she smiles, leaving lisa to the cooking.
she follows violet upstairs and to the guest room, seeing all the clothes violet has laid out on the bed.
"you don't know what to wear?" rose asks. violet nods. she looks over the couple of dresses and other items, thinking for a moment. "why don't you try one of my dresses on?"
"what?" violet furrows her eyebrows. "no, no i couldn't do that."
"come on, i insist."
rose takes her hand, pulling her down the hall to her bedroom. she immediately opens up her wardrobe, finding the section she has plenty of dresses hanging in.
she shuffles through different colours, pinks, yellows, reds. and then she lands on the one she clearly thinks is perfect. she pulls out a dark red dress, thin straps that connect from the top, down the back of the dress. the dress is practically backless, the straps used to tighten the dress and then tied at the bottom of the back. it's slightly shorter than violet would normally wear, with a flowy layered skirt.
"no way in hell am i wearing that," violet folds her arms. "i can't pull of a dress like that."
"sure you can," rose shakes her head. "let me just get these tags off..."
"it's a new dress?"
"oh, this old thing?" rose walks to her trash can, getting rid of the tags. "i've had it for a while, but it doesn't fit right and i never got around to returning it."
violet sits on rose's bed, looking at the dress as rose fiddles with the strapping, she unties it, all ready for violet to put on.
"at least try it," rose urges her. "you might like it, you never know."
"fine, but i'm changing after."
violet takes the dress, walking into the connecting bathroom, pushing the door so it's only open slightly. she takes off the sweatpants and shirt she'd changed into when getting home from her breakfast date earlier.
she takes a breath, stepping into this red dress. she pulls it up, slipping the straps onto her shoulders. staring into the mirror, she isn't sure at all.
"can you come and tie it for me?" violet calls out.
rose slowly walks inside, a big smile on her face after seeing the dress on her sister. she thinks it looks incredible on her. of course violet doesn't think so.
rose takes hold of the ends of the straps, making sure everything is in the right place. pulling it in so it's tighter, until violet is complaining.
"that feels too tight," she looks back slightly.
