it's the day after ashton bought the arctic monkey's album from the music store. more specifically, the vinyl violet recommended to him. he has his friends over at his place, the album playing as they all catch up over cups of coffee.
"this is the newest album you discovered?" luke, the blonde curly haired guy of the group asks. "i've heard some of these before, they're good."
"the woman who owns the store, her niece just moved here, i mentioned her a few days ago," ashton begins explaining, thinking about violet in the process. "her name's violet, she recommended it to me."
"violet," calum trails off, brushing his fluffy hair out of his face. "violet as in the colour or the flower?"
"i actually have no idea, i'll have to ask."
ashton sips on his coffee, paying attention to the song that's playing. it's the fourth track, one of violet's favourites. the lyrics were well written, ashton beginning to wonder how he hasn't heard these songs before.
"when do we get to meet the girl with music recommendations?" michael, the second blonde of the group, asks as he scrolls through his phone, half paying attention to the music.
"not yet, give me a chance to make friends with her first." ashton almost glares at michael being so keen to meet violet, he's barely told them anything about her and they're acting desperate to see her. "going by what her aunt's told me about her before, i doubt she'll be wanting to meet many people."
"why's that?" luke asks, sounding confused as when ashton first told them about violet he made it sound like she was happy to meet someone new.
"sounds like a lot went on back home with old friends, relationships. obviously i don't know much because it was just general conversation."
"well, all you need to do is be yourself around her and i'm sure she'll wanna be friends in no time." calum nudges his shoulder, ashton giving a confused look. "i mean you have a warm personality."
"aw cal, don't go soft on me mate." ashton pats his shoulder, getting an annoyed head shake from him, removing his hand with a laugh. "i'll probably stop by tomorrow, see if violet's there."
ashton's friends all nod at him, they'll be expecting to hear more about this violet girl soon. ashton wants to be friends with her, it would be nice to make a new friend, introduce her to his friends. then maybe she won't feel so alone in this new place that she's decided to live in. although, maybe she's okay without having friends.
the album continues to play, all four guys enjoying relaxing, listening to music, with their cups of fresh coffee. the perfect way to start the morning.
on the other side of town, violet had also had a good morning. some packages have arrived from ohio that she'd sent over from her old home, to add to her new apartment. there are a few boxes full of ornaments, her very special vinyl collection with her vinyl player and most importantly of all, her books. a large box full of books and nothing but books.
she absolutely loves reading, give her any book and she'll read it within a few days. she can't wait to get back into her collection to continue reading whatever book she left off with back home.
violet had already been out, borrowed her aunts car, to go and buy two cabinets and a mirror for her bedroom. the two cabinets are made from a light coloured wood and the mirror has a beautiful golden frame. exactly what she wanted.
she manages to put together the cabinets pretty quickly, the instructions being a big help. it's a simple job, as was placing the mirror so it leaned against the wall. she wouldn't put it up yet as she still wants to do some painting. now, she can start arranging her books and vinyls to fit perfectly into the cabinet. organising. her favourite thing to do.
