meeting your other half's parents is something that has to happen at some point within a relationship.

violet met ashton's family over a video call not long ago, and now it's ashton's turn to meet violet's family in ohio. in person. the thing she's been dreading the most since before they arrived.

rose and lisa would be coming along for support, for if violet's mom decides to get carried away with saying anything hurtful. lisa arrived late last night and went over a few things with violet about her parents, just to be sure on what would be happening.

everything is going smoothly so far today. violet woke up not long ago, feeling happy after she and ashton spent time together last night. watched the sunset, got dinner, and walked back to rose's place talking and laughing together. finally, they had a relaxing bath together, without much talking, just enjoying their time together.

now, up and dressed, ready to go and see her parents, she's not sure how she's feeling. they're sitting in the living room, a few finishing up eating breakfast, lisa in the kitchen with rose as they clear a few mugs and plates up. michael and calum are talking about their plans for the day and luke is talking to violet and ashton.

"are you worried about it?" luke asks. referring to her previously mentioning being worried about what her parents will say.

"i mean, kind of, i guess," she shrugs, holding ashton's hands which are around her front. "i'm trying not to think about it too much, what happens happens, and i'll be ready to argue if that's what my mom really wants to do."

"plus rose and lisa will be there," ashton adds. "they can help too if needed."

violet nods, hoping things will go more smoothly with them there. at the same time, it's not like her mom will care. if she wants to say something horrible, nothing will stop her.

"well, we'll be around if things don't turn out too well," luke reassures, placing his hand on her shoulder. "just let us know when you're leaving so we can do something after."

"yea, i will," violet smiles, looking over to rose as she walks back inside with her shoes on. "leaving now?"

"if you're ready," rose wants to let violet take her time if she needs to. "no rush."

violet is first to stand up, taking a breath, "um, we'll meet you in the car," she says, glancing to ashton who follows what she's doing. "we'll be out in a couple minutes."

rose goes to walk outside, when she glances to the other guys still sitting in the living room, "don't wreck my house while we're gone," she widens her eyes at them. "i've known you for less than twenty four hours so i'm putting my trust in you."

they all put their thumbs up, promising they'll keep the place tidy. if they actually do is another story. rose and lisa make their way outside to the car, waiting for violet and ashton to be ready.

violet pulls ashton over to the dining room, close to the door where their shoes are. she sits on one of the chairs to pull her shoes onto her feet and lace them up, ashton does the same.

"just know, anything that my parents say today, is just them being... them," she sighs. "and don't feel like you need to argue for me or anything, i'm used to the way things go and i'm more worried about what they're gonna say to you."

"no promises," ashton raises his hands.

"ash, i'm serious this time," violet runs a hand through her hair. "please just let me do the talking if they say anything horrible."

he will find it hard not being able to defend her, but, if that's what she wants he wouldn't go against it. he nods his head, understanding what she wants him to do.
