violet had been happy living in california for these past two months. however, she never anticipated how tiring arranging her apartment would be. figuring out where she wanted everything, buying things she needed, and trying to settle into somewhere new.

she's been arranging the spare room. the empty room, now being filled with a sofa bed, on the off chance someone stayed over, an extra wardrobe containing any clothes she couldn't fit into the wardrobe in her room, she also placed the last few boxes in there - old photos inside that she hadn't brought herself to sort through yet.

she just finished placing her last dress into the spare room wardrobe. now laying down on her comfortable bed, ready for the rest of her evening to be peaceful and relaxing.

until she remembered she never called sophia to show her around the apartment.

she doesn't want sophia to be mad at her, especially as she has had time to call over the last week. violet just wasn't in the mood to have her excitable friend screaming down the phone at her.

violet picks up her phone from her cabinet, continuing to lay down as she found sophia's contact on face time. she hovers over her number for a few seconds. deciding whether or not to leave calling. although, if she doesn't call now, she probably won't ever do it.

she sits up as the call goes through, holding her phone away from her face. as she expected, it only takes sophia a few seconds to answer the call she had been waiting for.

"violet! oh i've missed seeing your face!" she exclaims, sitting in her living room with the phone propped against the pillows. "how are you? tell me everything."

"uh, i'm good, i think i'm finally settled into my apartment now." violet tells her, not being as hyper as sophia. "i've been working at my aunts store some days so that's pretty fun, and i've seen one of the beaches. it's so beautiful here, sophia, i really love it."

"i'm glad to here that," sophia smiles. "now, tell me about these friends of yours."

violet doesn't say anything. she isn't sure how sophia know's about her having friends. she hasn't told anyone back home, so how on earth would she be asking about them.

"girl, come on, spill the deets, you literally posted on your story at a fancy restaurant." she reminds, violet now knowing why sophia knew. "i'm gonna assume you weren't there alone, seeing as there were five plates of food."

"yea, um, so i made a friend here." violet hesitantly explains. "his name is ashton, and he uh, wanted me to formally meet his friends so he took me out to dinner with them."

"how romantic." sophia raises her eyebrows. "is he cute?"

"sophia!" violet shouts down the phone at her. "i've known him for barely two months, and you know i'm not looking at anyone in that way."

"even if you don't want a relationship you can still find guys cute."

violet groans, shaking her head at her friend. this is what violet meant when she told ashton, sophia always wants the 'juicy details.' trying to move on from this conversation, violet smiles to herself.

"speaking of, guys," she folds her arms. "how's joey? you two are still together right?"

"we are," a large smile appears on sophia's face. "he's taking me out on a date soon and i'm sure he's gonna propose."

"already?" violet asks, not realising how harsh it sounded. "sorry, it's just— you've not even been together for a year yet. what makes you think he's gonna propose?"

sophia stands up, disappearing from the frame. violet sits patiently, waiting to see whatever it is sophia went to get.

"so, he told me to wear this dress." she holds up her dark red dress, it sits just above her knees with a slit on the leg. it's her favourite dress. "and he's taking me out to the restaurant that we had our first date in, we haven't been there since that date. i'm sure he's gonna propose."
