celebrating an anniversary in a relationship is meant to be good, it's meant to be a happy day. however, ashton is unsure of how this day would go after what happened with violet's parents and how she was feeling the past couple of days.

ashton let violet sleep in this morning, she was still fast asleep when he woke up, not even a few soft cheek kisses could wake her up this time.

he got himself up, got dressed, freshened up and made his way downstairs. he found rose in the living room, immediately talked to her about what he had planned for violet today. she seemed keen on his ideas, both of them leaving the house for him to pick up the last few things he needed.

which brings things to current time. midday. ashton has just got back home with rose, violet has just woken up, confused as to where ashton is. until she sees a note sitting on nightstand next to the bed.

a note. she hasn't had one of those from ashton for a while. she sighs happily, leaning up to grab it and read it.

good morning, flower. happy 6 months. sorry i'm not there for when you wake up, i had to go and pick a couple of things up. these past 6 months have been the best of my life, i'm so thankful that i met you. i love you. - ash x (p.s. send me a text when you're up!)

violet smiles, quickly reaching for her phone to text ashton. it isn't long after that, that there's a gentle knock on the door, ashton peeping his head inside first before completely walking in.

"hi, baby," he greets, two coffees in hand along with a bag hanging around his wrist. "happy anniversary."

violet sitting in bed, reaches out with grabby hands, waiting for him to put the coffees down and come over to her. he gets back into bed, shuffling over to violet, wrapping his arms around her for a hug.

"happy anniversary, bubba," she looks up at him, leaning up to kiss him softly.

"i got you something," ashton pulls back from their hug, holding the bag out in front of him. "first, flowers."

he takes a small bouquet of roses out of the bag, passing them to violet. she smiles, placing them down in front of her after. she watches as ashton takes a small box out next, not sure on what it could be.

"i bought this a little bit ago," he says. "just something i thought you might like."

violet takes it from him, untying the pretty ribbon surrounding the box. she slips the top off, revealing a silver ring with pretty purple flowers going around the middle of it. she removes the ring from the box, only then realizing the central section of the ring... spins?

"it's a fidget ring," ashton explains, taking the ring from her for a moment, twisting the middle part around. "i know you like to fiddle if you get anxious, or nervous, so i hoped you'd—"

"i love it," she interrupts him. "it's perfect."

ashton takes her left hand in his, slipping the ring onto her ring finger. violet watches, taking a breath as he does.

is this what it would feel like if he proposed? no.. violet.. snap out of it.

"sorry, what finger did you actually want it on?" ashton chuckles. "just thought i'd see what that would feel like."

violet looks up at him when he says that, not knowing what to say. suddenly speechless. were they both thinking the same thing? she opens her mouth to speak, but no sound comes out.

"what?" ashton asks, smile dropping. "sorry, you said you don't like thinking about the future, you can put it on this finger instead."

he goes to remove the ring when violet pulls her hand away, looking at the ring on that finger. she looks to ashton with a smile.
