< 18 > Still a Mystery

The constant whimper screams pulled me out of my sleep, I found myself laying beside Mishti. Her eyes were closed, but she's crying and screaming.. I sat down quickly and tried to wake her up, maybe she's seeing a nightmare.. I patted her cheek , shook her body and after several attempts she finally became conscious.. Her breathing was quick..

"Hey, you okay! Relax, calm down, " I tried to comfort her, but my words were not reaching her ears.. She clenched her fist around the bedsheet, her eyes have become red.. She was awake, but her mind was still unconscious.. "Ssshhh, listen to me, Mishti! " I tried again, but it seems impossible..

She took her own time, she tried to breathe normally.. "Third drawer! " She whispered, I quickly pulled out the third drawer which was near the bed, there's a medicine box.. I brought it out, she tilted her head and pointed her finger at a tablet.. "Which type of pill is it? " I asked her, she remained silent while trying to make herself feel better..

I gave her a glass of water and that tablet, she took it and laid down closing her eyes.. "Sometimes I face this type of nightmare, it kind of kills me.. Meditation and yoga don't help, so I had to take these pills , it helps me to sleep! " She replied, I was a little stunned.. "From when do you get these type of nightmares? "

"After I left my family! During the initial days, it used to be worse, but now it has completely reduced. But now recently due to all these murders and accidents, I got this terrible nightmare again, " she said and opened her eyes to look at me.. A small smile crept over her lips as she was falling asleep again.. She gestured for me to come close to her, I bent down a little, laying beside her..

Her hand wrapped around my neck, she held my cheek in her small palm. "You know why I have started falling for you? " Her tone kept fading away, as the medicines started working.. "Because when there's no one around me , you were with me always .. On my birthday, I met you for the first time.. You were playing music, it healed my tired soul. When I needed someone for my fashion show, then again you were there.. When someone tried to kidnap me, again it's you who saved me. Adrene tried to kidnap me, then again it's you.. When I find myself in a problem, you come to me like a ray of light and hope, "

Her words made my heart beat quick, she was forcing herself to speak when her mind was slowly getting unconscious..

"It's always you and it will always be you! I always think that I am an independent woman, I will do everything on my own, but it's only you to whom I can seek help without feeling helpless and poor.. " She said, I don't know why she was telling all this to me right now, at midnight, that too when she got a nightmare..

Then again her words registered in my mind and I realized she's feeling venerable after seeing the nightmare and when she found me beside her, she found solace and her heart melted for me again!

"You fixed the scratch of my heart that you didn't create -"

I placed my fingers on her lip, "Get some sleep, I will listen to you some other day, but not now! " I said, she pulled me closer, her face nuzzling in the crook of my neck.. "Only if you stay with me forever! " She mumbled before falling into a deep sleep.. I felt a lump in my throat, my heart started pounding heavily inside my chest.

As the fear of our detachment started engulfing me, I found myself drowning in the sea of darkness. I never wanted my fate to be like this, but there's a fault in my star and I can't do anything except letting you go! A lone tear escaped from my eyes as I pulled her close to my embrace, I kissed her ear and tightened my grip around her..

As my palm reached her bare waist, I distanced myself and made her lay on the bed.. I looked at myself and then at her, I was shirtless while she was just wearing her undergarment. My eyes travelled around the room, my shirt was falling in the corner , while her shirt was laying on the floor..
