Harry completed the first task successfully and everyone started to gather in the Griffindor's common room to celebrate Harry.

Finally other students started to realize that indeed he didn't put his name in the goblet of fire. That no one in their right minds would want to compete if they are not 17 years old or above.

He started to feel complete when Ron came to his senses and apologized to him. However, he was still missing something or rather someone in his life.

He hated himself for the way he has been behaving around Evelyn lately. He knew she meant well by supporting both of them but he couldn't help but feel jealous. Why was he feeling jealous though?

Never has he felt this way towards her before. They were like siblings.

Evelyn on the other hand, started to get ready for her date with Cedric. She was excited. Finally after what felt like forever they were going to make it official.

She wanted to celebrate with Harry too but she has promised Cedric about this date forever. She couldn't say no now.

"Wow! You look beautiful Evelyn." A hufflepuff girl called Stephanie said, making her smile back, thanking her. "How does it feel to go out with the hottest guy in school right now?"

"Honestly, it feels a bit surreal sometimes. But he is so nice that makes me come back to reality. He's just like any other normal guy. But still very very sweet."

"Awww that's so cliche." Steph said as she laughed a bit. "But still, I'm happy to hear that. He is a very nice guy."

Evelyn nodded, agreeing with her. "Well, I think I'm ready." Evelyn said to herself as she looked in the mirror feeling proud.

"Can I give you a last touch?" Steph asked taking her by surprise but nodding either way.

She came towards her and added a pink lipstick that matched her skin tone.

"There. Perfect. This way Cedric won't be able to resist kissing you." Steph said with a small smirk making Evelyn giggle.

She has never felt this confident before and she likes it.

Eve looked at the clock and saw that it was time to go. It was almost 7pm.

"Good luck!" Steph said as Eve hugged her.

"Thank you!" They have never really talked before but now she'll make sure to keep in touch with her. She looks like a cool friend.

Cedric was waiting patiently in the Hufflepuff's common room, people congratulating him whenever they passed by and seeing him.

It felt amazing to finally be free off the first task. Only two more to go. However, there was a single thought in his mind that didn't let him be as happy as he should.

Evelyn had feelings for Harry. Feelings that even though she didn't realize it now, they are there. And Cedric couldn't continue doing this if it meant heartbreak for him later.

For a second, just for a second, he said 'oh fuck it' when he saw Evelyn coming down the stairs. She was wearing the most beautiful dress he has ever seen, she lighted up the whole room even when he wished she didn't.

"Wow." Was all Cedric could say as she came down the stairs. He saw her blushing and he really just wanted to keep going with this, hoping that maybe at some point she would feel something stronger for him. But he knew deep down, she won't.

They are meant to be together, it's obvious. Why would he ever think that she belonged to him?

"Hey, are you okay?" Evelyn asked and he could see the concern in her eyes.

"Yeah- yeah sorry. You look beautiful." He said and she thanked him. He really didn't want to do this. He didn't want to let go.

But it was the best for both of them.

After today's event, how she looked at Harry in that tent before Cedric left, he knew that her heart didn't belong to him. It belonged to Harry.

It always has and it always will.

They grew up together, so it was just a matter of time before they developed feelings for each other.

She doesn't notices it, but anytime she talks, she mentions Harry at least once. She'll realize that what he's about to do, is for the best.

Maybe she'll hate him at first, ignore him even, but eventually, she'll know it's for the best.

"Cedric? You've been very quiet tonight. Are you sure you're okay?" Evelyn asked again, making Cedric come back to reality once more.

He looked at her and immediately she knew that something was not right.

"Cedric?"

"I'm sorry." Cedric said as he sat back down on the common living room couch. Evelyn following him. "I know you're gonna hate me, I know you won't understand right now. But we can't keep doing this."

Evelyn was shocked, she indeed did not understand what he was saying. Where was this coming from? She thought everything was fine.

Tonight they were supposed to make it official, so she really didn't understand what he was saying.

"What do you mean? Keep doing what?"

She was hoping that maybe it was something to do with the tournament, that he couldn't continue doing it. But she knew it was something else.

"I can't- I can't be with you anymore." He finally let it out. Trying his best to sound convincing. Because he didn't even wanted to do it, but in the long run it was for the best.

Evelyn looked at him, trying to figure out if it was a joke. Maybe it was a prank.

She has never felt more confident before and now that she has, he did this? Why?

"Cedric, what are you talking about? It's our first date- we- we were going to make it official tonight and-" her voiced cracked without her permission. She regretted it. She didn't want to sound so desperate. But it hurts.

It hurts so much. She just wanted to understand why.

"I don't want to throw everything away. It's just- it's for the best Eve."

"Is it the best for you? Because right now, I'm so confused. Did I do something wrong?" She asked, now really sounding desperate. But she wanted to know the reasons.

Her eyes started to water and she was trying her hardest not to let the tears fall. She was expecting so much from tonight and maybe, just maybe, that was the first thing she did wrong.

"No- not that you know of." Cedric couldn't even look at her because he knew he would give in. This is for the best. "You won't understand why right now. Just know that it's for the best. For me and for you."

All she could do was look at him, waiting for more explanation, anything. But no, nothing.

He didn't even look at her.

So, without saying anything else, she stood up and found the courage to say the next line before going back up to her dormitory "Thank you Cedric, because even though you don't see it right now, I'm forever grateful for our time together."

Cedric still couldn't bring himself to look at her. He knew she was going to cry and he couldn't believe he was the reason for this.

With that, Evelyn left Cedric alone in the living room and he will never admit it to anyone but he cried.
