Kira turned from the wall, she couldn't hear Rock Lock behind it. Or Toga. The rock was too thick.
"Nonono!!!" Someone thought. She saw a villain, or who she assumed was a villain crouched on the ground. "My mask!! It was ripped in the fight!- You'll be fine- Owwww- I need to fix it!- Now now now- Ahhh!"
Kira blinked and looked around. They were in a hall. He held his head in his hands. Grunting and crying. One half of a mask that covered his entire head was ripped off. Every part of his body was covered but that one rip.
"IM GOING TO BE RIPPED IN HALF!!" He screamed in his mind.
Kira couldn't remember the last time she'd been so close to someone going through so much seemingly unprompted mental agony. His body was completely fine but he felt like he was being destroyed.
Kira stared at him, holding her own head. She looked down the hall, pointing in the direction Eri probably was. Then she looked down at the whimpering villain in her way. He probably wouldn't even try to stop her. She could walk right past him.But could she? Could she really?
Kira groaned and walked closer, pulling something from a pocket in her belt. She knelt by the villain. If you could even call him that. He didn't even seem to notice her through his thoughts. No, not just his thoughts. Ten different thoughts. They all rang in his mind, supposedly worse because of his mask.
"Hold on." Kira mumbled. She crouched by him with a frustrated kindness. Like she hated that she wanted to help him.
How could she not When she could see inside his head?
He was harmless, at least he was right now. Kira used a thick bandage wrap she carried in case she needed to dress wounds. She had almost given it to Rock Lock, but then the wall came down.
"No no no my head! My mask!" He yelped, crying and holding her wrists as she leaned forward.
"Shhh, it's okay." Kira whispered. Wrapping it around his head. "See? A-all better."
She hesitated. Waiting for him to snap like a wild dog and attack her. But he didn't."I'm gonna kill you." He mumbled. "Marry me please!" He said again in a slightly different voice. Actually pleading with her.
Kira stared at him for a second and held back a laugh. "Okay then." She mumbled.
"I thought all you thugs were scary men." He mumbled, staring at her. His tears practically dried up, but she could feel how intensely grateful he was.
Kira blinked. Thugs? She Wondered, then She realized she still had her mask and goggles on. He thought she was with the Shie Hassaikai. He didn't realize she was on the other team. As long as he believed that he probably wouldn't strike. But if he thought she was a gangster...
That meant he was with the league. With Toga.
"Things aren't always what they seem." Kira mumbled. "Are you okay?" She asked, ready to stand up and leave him.
"She seems so kind... She reminds me of Momma. Her and Toga are the only ones who have been kind to me. Since big sis... Since big sis was killed. Why am I here?!" He thought, blinking as he looked at Kira. "I'm helping the man that killed my friend!"
Kira tried not to vomit after hearing him compare her to Momma. But she knew Momma's game, her manipulations. Of course she faked kindness towards a man as vulnerable as this. He would be easy to manipulate.
"You're... You're bleeding." He stated, suddenly distracted from his own agony. Kira realized the blood from her stab wound had dripped onto the floor underneath them.
