Trigger warning: this chapter continues content that might be disturbing.

Kira was a mindreader. But that didn't mean she knew everything.

For example; until this moment she had absolutely no idea that the number two hero Hawks was currently a member of the liberation army.

No. That he was currently a spy in the Liberation army. Playing for the heroes by acting like a dirty pro. Things just got a hundred times more complicated for the both of them.

"Uh..." Hawks said, staring at her. Baffled. "Whatcha doing kid?" He asked.

'Shit.' Kira thought, her brain going a mile a minute. Every possibility. Every path. She had to figure something out. Somehow help herself without blowing his cover. "Just... Gonna take a walk outside." She shrugged.

He couldn't let her walk out though. Because if she got away because of him they'd assume he let her. That he was a traitor. So she had to fight him. Fight him and...

Let him win.

Not that she needed to let him win. She was certain she wouldn't have a chance in hell at beating him.

"....right...." Hawks said, glancing at the door behind him. "It's that UA kid. I remember her. What the hell is she doing here?!"

'Please...' Kira mentally begged. 'Please capture me. For your own good Hawks.'

"What am I supposed to do? I can't let her leave that's for sure. But I don't want to hurt her. Damn it, what if this is a trap? A loyalty test? Doesn't matter, everything is a test now."

"I don't think that's a good idea." He sighed. Pulling out a feather the size of Kira's arm. Hard like a sword. "How about we walk back..." He suggested. "To wherever it is you're running from?" He asked. Hoping to resolve this as peacefully as possible.

He made his decision. It was a good one, now it's Kira's turn. She took out her stolen Knife. She couldn't treat him like an ally. She had to fight him with the Same brutality she fought Momma and the others. It should cement his place in their ranks.

Being attacked by a mind-reading hero student? That would definitely make them believe he was a villain too right?

"No thanks. I'm good." Kira whispered. This was it. She was going to be captured. She had a good run, really gave them hell. But there was no way she was getting past Hawks.

She charged him. A suicide charge. That's what it was, a fight she knew without a fact she would not win.

"Damn it." Hawks muttered. Getting in a stance. "I'll make this quick. Hold her and track down whoever she was running away from."

'Thank you hawks.' Kira thought, slashing at him desperately. Knowing it would take him two seconds to grab her. If she marked him that would be good, fairly convincing.

She did, the blade sliced through the skin on his cheek. Just barely. He grabbed her hand and then the back of her hoodie, twisting the knife from her grip. He held her hand cuffs and her hood. Keeping her from running away.

She heard a roar and someone trampling down the hallway. Momma coming at full speed. Spinner ahead of her.

He turned the corner and stood at the end of the hallway. Staring at them.

"You guys loose something?" Hawks asked with a chuckle. "You're welcome for grabbing her."

"Hawks." Kira whispered. "Remember what you asked me?"

"Huh?" He looked down at her.

Momma tore around the corner, shoving spinner aside. Everything seemed to be moving in slow motion.
