38: 𝐾𝑖𝑡𝑡𝑦

"Oh hey Shinso!" Kira waved to the boy when she passed him in the hall. "You going to lunch break?"

"Uh... Yeah." Shinso said slowly. Looking from her to the rest of her group.

"Yo! Come sit with us!" Denki said, standing beside Kira with a smile.

"I usually eat with Tammy..." He mumbled, glancing around.

"She can come too!" Kira and Mina both invited.

"I feel a little bad for that chick. How she talked about no one liking her... I'm determined to be her friend!" Mina smiled at Shinso. "She seems nice!"

"Why are we asking out Insomnia and Wednesday Adams?!" Bakugou thought, glancing away with a scoff. Kira elbowed him subtly.

"Um... Maybe..." Shinso thought, totally conflicted. "I'm getting an offer to hang out with the cool hero course students?! This is pretty cool but... Well I can't just throw this on Tammy. And I don't want her to feel like I'm replacing her-"

"What's going on?"

Tammy asked, appearing out of nowhere. As usual.

"Ah!" Denki shrieked, just like last time he grabbed Kira's arm. "Oh hi Tammy!" He smiled nervously. "A warning would be nice!"

"Me and Kira just wanted to see if you guys would eat lunch at our table!" Mina smiled at Tammy.

"Oh." She said. She looked between Kira and Shinso with an unreadable expression.

"Whatever, while you guys make up your minds I'm gonna get my damn food." Bakugou snapped, stomping away.

"He seems more pissy than usual." Sero noted.

"Maybe he's mourning Mineta." Denki joked, nudging him.

"Who?" Shinso asked.

"Oh Mineta. A guy who used to be in our class. He dropped out and Kira took his place. Turns out he was totally murdered afterwards." Mina explained. "Isn't that spooky?"

"...quite." Tammy said with a frown. "I think I'll pass." She decided, then she looked up at Shinso. "You should go though, I need to do something in my room."

"You're not gonna eat?" Shinso asked.

"You do remember... I don't need to eat right?" Tammy asked him with a blank expression.

"Oh yeah. No food for the dead, no rest for the wicked. Right." Shinso rubbed the back of his neck. "Is she mad at me? I can't tell if she's acting weird because something is wrong... Or if she's just being herself."

"Right." Tammy nodded. Before she disappeared again.

"She... She doesn't eat?" Denki asked with a horrified expression.

Shinso shrugged. "Sure she does. She just doesn't really need it. She's like... Kinda immortal? I don't know. She's dead."

"Thats sick man." Sero whispered. "So she can't die again?"

"No she can, I think. She has to have her heart restarted every week or so. With a defibrillated or something. If she doesn't her body goes into like... a coma state and then her heart will eventually stop and she'll die... Again." Shinso shook his head. "It's hard to explain and I don't know half of it."

"Sounds like a baller quirk honestly." Denki chuckled.

"Awh, I wish she had stayed! I want to make friends with her." Mina whined.

"She'll come around." Shinso Mumbled.
"I hope."

Shinso did spend lunch with the hero course group. He had never really hung out with a whole friend group before. He had always felt like an outsider. But UA was changing all of that. Kira and the others were changing all of that.
